Airbox Problem w/new SS

I just bought a 2002 Camaro SS and needed some help from the pros out there with the airbox. The lid on the aibox says it is a SLP Blackwing. The problem is that the lid does not seal to the lower housing. The metal clamps just hang there after closing it up. Thinking the dealership I bought the car at put the wrong filter in, I picked up a K&N, installed the rubber gasket to the underside of the lid and still have the same problem. It's like the filter is too small inside the box. I was just wondering if anyone has the same airbox or knows what might the problem be. I was thinking there might be a tray or some sort of plastic frame the filter sits inside of??? Thanks in advance for the help.

It is a pain in the ass to get it to fit right when you first intall it. The front lid of the box needs to be forced into the front lip. It is kind of hard to explain. Hope this helped.
