what size git paper do i use to take off that crap on my headlights of my 98 z , and do i use water when im sanding down the head light?

Man I wouldn't do it unless you have one of those kits. They use like 3000 grit paper and it is a process. You can really screw up your lights even worse.

i cleaned up the headlights on my sisters honda with some maguires precleaner, its what i had in the garage but it worked.

i used 2000 and then polished it up with some meguiers, lloks really good.

Wet sand it. Depending on how deep the damage is, you may have to replace the lights. If it looks like little cracks in the plastic and not just a light haze, it's likely too deep to sand out. But give it a try, what do you have to lose, except for a little time?

i'll tell ya now-his lights are just...foggy? no craks at all. Just a foggy/musty kinda covering over all of it-except on the areas that are partially covered by the lip of the hood-those are soooo clear, but it's only like a little 1/4" line on the tops

always wet sand....when u dry sand the powder builds up on the sand paper and it wont last as long..and as far at the head light lense it will be all full of powder and u wont be able to see which direction the lines of u sanding it are going....u always go side to side motion.....never in a circular motion nor up and down...you'll fudge everything up..trust me i've done mine....

start with 1500 grit, wetsand. go to 2000 grit, wetsand. go to 2500 grit, wetsand. Apply plastic or metal polish per directions. This should clean 'em up.

those grits are way too fine and wont really make a difference unless its on aluminum....todd

You really need to start lower.

400, then 800, then 1000, then higher up if you can still see small scratches.

You need to do this for a long time - it's not a half hour ordeal. Wet sanding is easier. When you have the headlight completely sanded, polish it with something like Meguiars Plastx. Here's mine in the process:

mine are not that bad i think ill start with the 800. it looks like shit when there like that, good design GM
