I've saved enough for my dream car and today I went to check her out. A 1998 Trans Am WS6.
I was wondering what problems I might expect from this 8 year old car.
1998 @ 78,000 km 6 speed, V8, never winter driven.

Your comments are greatly appreciated.
Thanks

If its been taken care of NOTHING. Just check and ask if the t tops leak, id fo u need new sealent. Check to see if the windows go up and down, since these things have a history of dying out all the time. Make sure all the lights, guages, turn signals work. If its modded, chances are its seen the track. Run a car fax and make sure its clean. Make sure theres no noise or whining comming from the engine. Lastly take it for a spin, and dont be afraid to get on it, thats the only way youll know if its still got the power. If all i mentioned is fine, go ahead and buy it, if its withing your rpice range. Have fun, and dont drive like a nut. Youll luv the car man!!

the 98's aren't the best year. I highly suggest an 01.
- 01's have the ls6 intake
- brass synchronizers as opposed to the 98-00 carbon ones
- it's newer

yea .. I would say thats too much ... good car though .. mine is a 99 and have had no problems .... gave it lots of TLC though .. just depends on how many owners and how good it looks/ Drive ...can tell alot from the way a car looks .....

considering I just bought a 98, non-ws6, last week for $9500 I think that 17k is a tad high too.

as for too old? poppycock I say! lol but I dont really know what I am talking about. I do know that my car was well cared for, is in exceptional shape, could use paint refreshed, but mechanically super sound.

did have to replace the drivers window motor immediately however.

I bought a 98 ws6 last spring for 12,000 with 9,600 miles on it and the car was mint and still looked and smelled like new! And i have not had any problems with it at all. So yeah i would say that is to much but you just got to look for the right deal

in wichita ks, there's a 99 ws6 for 12,000 usd. i bought my 98' non ws6 with 60,000 miles for 8,500 usd almost two years ago and the only thing wrong with it was the passenger side window motor. so to me that seems a little high.
