So I've been doing my homework on MAF's. Aparently, the SLP and Granatelli MAF is so much $ its not worth the amount of HP per dollar. But what about MAF ends? I'd assume this is much much better than buying a whole new MAF. Additionally, I've been told that high performance MAF's also trick your computer to believe it's not getting as much air as it actually is. Wouldn't that be the exact same as tuning your car to running slightly rich???

leave the ends be. aftermarket anything maf will cause you a headache.

i have no 'headaches' with the VHP MAF ends i have on the wife's car. runs, drives, and tuned around it just fine. with the ported MAF ends, the PCM doesn't meter all of the incoming air. this will lean the mixture out somewhat. here's a dyno from the wife's car this is with stock tuning as well. yes, it gained 2 peak hp. but, after peak is where it started gaining. gained 8 rwhp after peak.

the only time i tuned the car was after i out heads in her car. drove around for well over 6 months on stock tune with the MAF ends. some MAF set ups are hit or miss.

It's always the tune...which is more money than the parts sometimes.

I found a cheap fix for lean-running cars, put the MAF on backwards. That way, it reads unscreened and after it gets screened, it will run rich.
