Something is wrong with my volume knob. It just seems like it only half way works. I turn and turn and the volume doesnt change. Then if I barely move it, it jumps up full blast. My steering wheel control works good though( God bless TA's!:burnout: ) Any recommendations?

Mine does the same thing but randomly - must be in the early stages of I need to be replaced by an aftermarket unit.

Thats just a pontiac thing. My girlfriends grandammit did it as with about half the pontiac I've ever tried to turn down the stereo.

Try to pull the knob out a little bit as u turn it, i have found that to work well.

Lol mine does somthing completely different. When I try to turn the vol down it'll go up a few notches then go down. So whenever I have a passenger trying to answer their phone, and I try to be courteous and turn down the radio I look like an ass.

So strange. My '99 T/A does the very same thing if I try to adjust the volume from the head unit. I just use the volume buttons on the steering wheel, instead. No problems there.

It's seriously gotta be a Pontiac thing!:thumbdn: !! Every Pontiac I have ever owned and I've quite a few, the radio volume knob has always sucked. My 2002 Trans Am did the same exact thing so I just changed the radio... But like ya said, steering wheel controls have no problem.:dunno: go figure.

Mine acts funny, too. If you turn it alot, it does fine. If you're trying to do minor adjustments, though is when it acts strange. You might turn it down a notch and have the volume actually go up, or vice versa.

Yup, that is EXACTLY what mine does. One guy on here suggested kinda pullin out on the knob. I tried it and it works perfect if you do that! How weird?:dunno:

Yep, I just tried the same thing and it works. If I pull back on the volume knob while turning it, then it works as expected. No more sudden blaring sound when I try to decrease the volume a notch or two! Thanks.

you can try shimming the knob itself to keep it "pulled out" at all times. I don't know, it may work, it may not.:dunno:
I guess all you would need is a set to washer slightly behind the button itself.

Its Hard To Keep It Shimmed In The "pulled Out" Position. I Just Keep Pulling The Knob Out. Works For Almost Everyone Else From What I See.

mine does the thing where it started INCREASING the volume by about 15% when I try to turn it down... only when it's already pretty loud...
probably need to clean the contacts on the knob... but instead, I'm just gonna get the DEH-P980BT
