I have a 99 camaro z28 M6 and was wondering what exhaust i should get? What headers to get? What Y pipe to get? Anyone have any ideas on what good and not that expensive. I was looking at the flowmaster system and heddman headers. i dont know about the y pipe tho.

depends on your setup, how loud you condisder loud, what type of sound you want...etc
You could go with a nonstainless set of longtubes such as pacesetters, or good quality such as kooks etc.. and then it depends if you want to do a y-pipe setup or true duals, give people a rough estimate of what you want it to sound like, and do some searching for yourself.
www.ls1sounds.com has a lot of resources to get you started.

Skip the flowmaster. Probably the lowest gains from the catbacks.
I personally like the Magnaflow catback.
Pacesetter headers and y-pipe. Lovely sound and the gains are as good as or better than most.

is that what you have on your car? Mr. Lous. It sounds really nice. Why didnt you keep the engine in the car when you changed everything? It looks like you just made more work.

I put in a stroker.
Mine right now is true duals with bullet mufflers. Gonna put some Magnaflow mufflers on it here soon.

If I put a pacesetter long tube headers and y pipe and a magnaflow exhaust system would i pass emissions here in illinois? How much would i gain do you think with this stuff

I don't know your states laws. I know you can have LT's here in Colorado but you need to have all emissions stuff still hooked up and running cats.
My power...not 100% sure yet. Aiming for 500 RWHP and 490 ft/pounds at the wheels.

Just means I need boost. :yup:
Why don't you go with a dual exhaust system with both of the 2 1/2 inch pipes going over the axle. You know that duals can go side by side down the passangers side of the car without any frame or suspension modifications. We designed and built an over the axle dual exhaust system for the Forth Generation F-Body cars several years ago with the idea of selling them through mail order. But we never offered it. Our dual exhaust system can be adopted to be used with stock manifolds and catalytic converters, short or long headers or just about any other configuration you might come up with. Maybe we should offer our "complete" dual exhaust system to all you F-Body car guys through mail order. Our dual exhaust system was designed to be the perfect exhaust system for the forth generation F-Body.
