I have Pacesetter LTs (uncoated) on my '02 SS. The tube the extends upwards (EGR?) on the second primary from the front that is bolted to the rubber hosing leading toward the windshield wore and wore and finally cracked slightly at the base, I assume from the engine's natural left-right tilt on throttle. it makes a very bad exhaust leak - ticking noise when I am going through gears so I had it welded and still there was a small tick. Can this pipe be cut off and welded shut at the base so I dont have this problem anymore? or will that throw a code because of the tube that's hooked up to it? I don't know if this exhaust is needed to flow into the intake manifold and to the combustion chamber for proper idling or whatever it may be but I'd really like to solve this issue without buying a whole new header for that side. Thanks all.

Are you talking about the stock metal air tube coming off the exhaust (2 bolts), passenger side by #2 cyl on top? Still have the AIR system? Sorry, trying to picture exactly what you're asking.

it's not "stock" since I have headers - maybe i'm not understanding you. But it comes off of the primary of the header - and is like a T shape with a flat, oval shaped head that is bolted to an air tube of some sort. thanks

You can do !AIR and/or seal it off, but will need the codes deleted. www.ls1camaro.net/sections.php?op=viewarticle&artid=70
