Anyone ever taken off the headlight

On a 98+ Trans Am??

I have some paint work getting done and I need to remove just the headlight assembly on the drivers side.

I got a NASTY chip from a rock on a highway a while back and just never did anything about it.
Plus...I want to have the Pontiac lettering sanded off so it is smooth like the other side.

Anyways...has anyone removed it?? Straight forward?? PITA??

All you will need to remove is the headlight cover. To remove it you will have two screws that you remove with the hood open right below the cover from the back side. Then with the headlights up, you need to remove 3 screws holding the black plastic panel. Then again there are 2 screws just under the cover that will need to be removed and it should come off. As far as sanding off the pontiac name, that is not possible. They are stamped into the metal, as far as I've seen. Another guy here told us this valuable info on removing the cover for the headlight. I have a chip and had the cover misaligned on my passenger side.
