Need some help you BFG guys..

For any of you running a 275 BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW, I could use some help with the actual WIDTH of the tire. I'm looking at the 275/40/18's, but any 275 in this style should work. I'm visiting cause I figure you guys should know.

I googled, and came up dry.

note: the KDW-2 is a completely different tire, I don't need measurements off of that.

Anybody have a set and a tapemeasure handy? I'd REALLY appreciate it!!!

which width are you looking for? the section width or the tread width.

section width is the measurement from sidewall to sidewall. all manufacturers will be the same here when on same width rim.

tread width is the measurement of the tread area. each manufacturer varies this part. some are 70% tread to section. some can be in the 90% range.

as you can see, the SW is within .2" of each other depending on rim width it was measured on. the TW is all over the place. ranging from 9.3" to 10.3". i look for the tire with the most TW for the money. this is what touches the ground.

This is the tire I'm looking at. (can't post url's until you've had 5 posts on this board I guess, so I apologize)

With my experience every tire varies, to a noticeable amount.

On the front of my car (staggered) I have a falken st-115 245/50/18, which comes out a FULL 7/8" narrower than the previous 245/45/16 conti extreme contact that I had on the stock wheel previous to that. The new front wheel (18") is a full inch wider than the stock wheel also, and still comes up way narrower just by changing brands. I was very unhappy with the width of the falken azenis after it hit my doorstep. Ratings off the internet in my experience are always bunk.

Right now I have a set of Dunlop sport MAXX for the front, which measure out 10 3/8" from level floor to a straight 2X laid across the top! So I hate to pay another $100 for a 275 that isn't any wider.

I do appreciate the info! But if anyone actually has a "KDW" and could mesure I'd much appreciate it! I still haven't been able to find an internet listed width measurement for the KDW. I see them for the KD SW etc.. which yields a different pictured tire than the one in the link above.

I'm just way picky. heh.

note: the dunlop sport MAXX I'm speaking of is a 255/40/18. Wow, huh. !

i just measured my kdw's on 17w9.5 wheels. tread width was @10 1/4 and sec width was @10 3/4. i didnt use a straight edge so these are aproximate. if you want i can send you a pic.

And tirerack just claimed on the phone that they're 10.9 wide.

I might as well go with them .. was hoping for more than 3/8" difference though.

How many miles you have on 'em and what do you think so far- You like? I heard rumors about road noise?

they seem to work well. i probably have almost 20,000 miles on them and they are probably at about 50% or more tread. they have no noise. the only thing i notice is on our shitty highway they track really bad when the road has deep grooves in it. otherwise i have no complaints.

Possibly a different swaybar would help? Sometimes it doesn't seem to matter what you do tires still track in ruts, especially a 275. Just a thought.
