okay i think i've messed up big time. my car out of the blue starts showing 2 p1416's so i take it to my friends shop and he types in the code and tells me it's the air pump, and the sensor just outside the air pump?. anyway i tell him to go ahead and replace it and he did well grand total was 388 dollars. but the light was off so i figured eh whatever. well after exactly 150 miles the light comes back on so i go to autozone and get a scan, same two p1416's so before i go spend another gob of cash i can mod with, could someone possibly tell me what it really is.
thanks for all your help!

I've had P1416 before, along with a few others - just replaced the passenger side air check valve. $388? Yikes! www.ls1.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1373

but yeah if i spent 388 for a damn 35 dollar part. thats my luck guess it couldn't hurt to replace it but crap. i could have gotten my slp intake system for that!

:smileban:I hope that people didn't see what got removed. If you didn't don't ask-it's not worth repeating. I'm leaving this on here for the person responsible to see.

Damn that sucks dude...next time post on here before going to a shop, someone might just have a answer. Even if it was the pump, you could've just removed it along with tubes and put block-off plates on your exhaust manifolds, then got a tune to remove the codes....and you still would've saved some money. I wonder if you can get any of your money back...since the mechanic was wrong and all.

I used to live in Cary NC, outside of Raleigh (Wake Co.) - heard they recently went to OBDII only. You'd pass the old sniffer test as long as the car was nice and warm - but at this point I'd just replace the passenger side air check valve. If P1416 goes away I'd print these posts and see if you can get a refund.
