Weird Engine Sound?!? Help!

[BLUE FLAMEZ 96]

Hey I have been told I have a cracked Exhaust manifold on my 96 z28 it makes a sound like there is a baseball card in a spoked bicycle tire and the faster I go the louder it is.

Anyone have any suggestions before I get it fixed... is it really a cracked exhaust manifold making that sound or could it be something else?

i don't know. but i'd throw on some longtubes :)

That is what is sounds like to me. If your gonna replace them go with headers. Just make sure you wrap your passenger side to keep the heat off your a/c box.

I would love to put Long tubes on but I am moving back to Massachusetts and the laws are strict. Any suggestions on what type of header to use I am been looking at the JBA 1803-5 but they are real pricey and my car is a 1996 but was an early 96 so it has the single CAT set up.

I was told I need to buy headers and "Y" Pipe for a 95 due to the single CAT setup.

Don't know about on a LT1 car. You can a mid length with cats and still be legal.
