Is this one from home depot an exact fit? I'm sure you have to tweak it a bit right?

Don't do it unless you want to break your airlid.

The factory bellows is a bellows for a reason. The stiff tubing puts a lot of stress on the plastic lid, it is not uncommon for them to break with non flexible hoses.

my stock bellow has a hole in it from when I ran nitrous in the car... the factory replacement is pretty expensive.. and slp new bellow is pretty pricey to..... any ideas if this isnt a good one... or the people that do have them on their car is the plastic air lid breaking a common thing... or can it be avoided.. thanks guys..

Its better than paying 60 for the slp one... i bought the fernco and clamped it on no prob.... And so what if the lid cracks.. JB WELD it :D

do you have to modify it any and do you use stock clamps on it? why does the lid crack (Im sure it has to do with the quality of the lids.. dont seem to be the best)? do I have to cut it to fit or do I just slide it on and clamp? thanks guys Im prolly going out to the hardware store tommorow if its that easy.

I have seen the lids crack right where the lid necks down to connect to the bellow. The factory piece is a bellow for a reason... it is flexible. Remember your airlid is essentially bolted to the radiator support, whereas the motor will move under acceleration, etc. With a bellow, the bellow can flex with the motor while staying attached. With a 'smooth' bellow, you have a stiffer tube that does not want to flex. This ends up putting a lot of stress on the airlid where the tube connect, which is right at the back of the lid in a weak area.

As nhraformula and keliente said.. it is a total waste of time and money. There are no gains from it. And you risk damage to other parts.

ahh thanks 345hpss makes alot of sense now.... is the slp one a bad design as well? ALso does it not give any gains as everyone claims by allowing the air to flow smoothly? Just curious why slp would design one if the stock one was fine... unless they were out to make money, which is very possible

can't you just sand the inside of the damn thing smooth? seems logical to me instead of paying 100 bucks or so for a "lid." maybe i'm stupid.

--- How do you sand down a bellow... I'm not a rocket scientist... but that doesn't and when you look at a LS1.. ISN'T possiable:lol:
