Cleaning White Vinyl Top?

Hello All:

I have a 1998 SS Camaro with a white vinyl top. Can anyone suggest a good product to use to brighten the vinyl without damaging it?

Mine is looking a bit dingy and needs some help.

Any suggestions are welcome!

Be real careful as it will eat the top and the coating on it.:Ohno:

If your willing to spend the time, Mr. Clean makes magic erasers that will do the job but it will take about 3 hours of scrubbing. Make sure you get the right ones as there are 3 or 4 types made. the ones you want is the same that are advertised for bathroom tubs, before you freak it is because of the texture it wont hurt the top, you will need like 4 bars or 2 packages and want to wash and rinse the top good before you start the scrub and wash it well again right after you do it.

I don't have white anymore but it will do a great job on VINYL ONLY ***NO CLOTH TOPS***

Thanks, I will give the mr. Clean Magic Erasers a try. I have heard that from some of our Camaro Club members also.

I have had to finally give up on my 98, will be getting a black top son. A trick I used for the last two years though was some vinyl spray stuff from Rust Oleum I think. You can get it in white and it worked quite well for making the top blinding white and water beaded up great. It was a nice option to make it look good after no other option worked. It would last about a year before it would start to flake off in some of the parts where the top gets folded when put down. After two applications though there's no way to do any more, and so time for a new top. Can't complain overall, extended the life for two more years for maybe $14 a year.

What do you guys recommend then for cloth tops?? I just posted a question in the detailing/show car section before reading this. I'm picking up a '99 Z with a tan top (for now) and would like to keep it looking it's best before swapping it out for a black one. Not to hi-jack this thread, but I figured since this topic was already rollin' I may get a quicker reply.

I just got some stuff in that I used the other day called "rag top" I found it at www.afterthoughtsauto.com It worked pretty well on my black top.....
