View Full Version : 98 Camaro SS - Want to run 12's
I am interested in buying a 98 SS Camaro. The car has 81,000 miles with Automatic Transmission and 3.23 gears. I would like to get the car to run in the low twelve second range at 3500 ft altitude. What mods are necessary for a SS to run that ET Range? Please any advice!!!
Thanks,
Perry

well if you want to run LOW 12's, your best bet is to start with your suspension. make sure you can grab the road before you start modding your motor. Then do your bolt-ons...MAF sensor, airlid, headers (pacesetter or hooker. slp has clearance issues). As long as you can grip the road, you should be able to run low 12's EASY with these bolt-ons.

stay away from maf sensors..their hit and miss....do some suspension work..get a stall converter, maybe some gears and stick tires....start with that.

This is what I would do.
3500 Stall converter
Loudmouth Exhaust
SLP Headers and Y-pipe
LS6 Intake Manifold
BFG Drag Radials
Tubular K-member
Tubular A-arms
Spohn Adjustable Torque Arm
Spohn Adjustagle Race Rear sway bar
Relocation Brackets
Sub Frame Connectors
Upgraded Control Arms
Tranny Mount
3.73's
V-6 springs in the back
Stock springs in the front
Hal 8 way adj drag shocks
That should get you deep in the 12's

why the v6 springs in the back?
What is a good source for the following:
Relocation Brackets
Sub Frame Connectors
Upgraded Control Arms
Tranny Mount

They are cheap and they are softer than the stock springs. Makes the rear dip when you launch which places more weight over the rear tires adding traction.
