i just recently bought a 01 z28 m6 and it came as stock as it can possibly be.

i ordered a kit to add a trunk release button but didnt realize that there is no emergency cable to hook onto. has anyone done this install and if so how.

i was thinking that the trunk is the same whether you have the release button or not and there is an unhooked harness hanging right beside the wires for the trunk to tell if its open or not. could that be the harness used for the trunk release button on cars equipped with it and can i splice into those wires and make it work like that? any suggestions/help would be appreciated thanks

Didn't realize they ever made them with cable release, thought they were all electric.

Dunno if it'll work. The rear lid lock release actuator and connector has two wires for it, one's black and one's black/white. That sounds like the wires your looking at, comes out of the same harness bundle as the rear lid adjar switch.

The release cabels were on the later convertables only, they were there to let mainly kids get out if they some how became traped inside.

yea thats the other set of wires in there i was wondering if those are used for the trunk release on cars with it equipped, and can i somehow connect to that or get a kit from gm?
