View Full Version : loudmouth 2 or weld in new muffler ?
I have a 99ss m6 with a slp loudmouth. Kooks headers and off road pipe on order. Going catless. Reading here the loudmouth will be to loud. I see some of you weld in a new muffler on the I pipe and others use the slp loudmouth 2 retrofit kit . Turning a loudmouth 1 in to a loudmouth 2 . With a $1000 in to headers I do not want to go half ass now. Which way should I go. I like loud but not call the cops loud. (WITH NO RASP)

Don't have headers, etc., but did install the Loudmouth II replacing the Loudmouth I've had since early on. Deeper sound at idle, but sounds very similar when accelerating. Main difference is the resonation is gone preserving what's left of my ear drums! Yanking the existing Loudmouth and inserting the II muffler may be more work than it's worth as the intermediate pipe is now 3 pieces with the resonator/muffler rather than one as the original. Once you have the three-piece intermediate, then swapping out the Loudmouth with the Loudmouth II is a no brainer. You'll need to by both new resonators, too. I did that rather than mess with all the fittings, etc., necessary to modify the original. Good luck!
