Doesn't sound way outta line from what I've seen. I have heard of people buying them for the mid 29s tho.

I'll state again that it is a very good deal! Knocking $4,000 off sticker with no GM incentives is good dealing on your part. It's not 'end of the year' sales time by any stretch. You are getting the car you want, and not settling for something, plus there was basically NO miles on the car. It wasn't some 'used' DEMO with 3,000 miles on it already. Pat yourself on the back and enjoy your ride for many years! There will be be many envious people out there. This is it for the GTO for now, maybe forever. Congratulations!

For the record I`ve been debating on trading in or selling my vette and getting a GTO, I didn`t like them at first but they grew on me.

I'm thinking that you are paying $2000 more than you COULD be paying. I could be wrong since I bought my 04 used about 8 months ago. I haven't been on top of the pricing in a while. I have heard of a couple of guys getting some leftover 05's (new) for about $26,000 and some have gotten 06's for $28000. The LS2's are in the 05's and 06's.

I'm over here learning a little bit about F-bodies and saw your post. You could check out the ls1gto.com forums for a whole lot of GTO info. You could find guys who are more certain of the answer to your question over there.

I forgot to mention this. The 6 speed's have the CAGS skip-shift. You can have it tuned out or buy a little $15 thing from SLP to take care of it. It can be a pain in traffic if you are forced to shift from 1st to 4th gear if you're going around 20 mph and are at light throttle. The engine gets all bogged down.

Really? I got a quote today for a '06 6sp & 17" wheels for $30,986. MSRP is $33,690. I figure I could qualify for the non-GM owner $1000.00 rebate since my wifey poo has Honda. question now is ... can I live without T-Tops?

I just found a link over there where guys are talking about how much they just paid for their new 05 and 06 GTO's. I tried to post links, but the forum wouldn't let me since I have less than 5 posts here.

It seems that $28,500 is the most you should pay for a new 05 with 17 inch wheels. So, $30,000 for an 06 isn't bad.

BTW, I asked the sales guy I've been chatting with why the MSRP he quoted me was different then the Windows sticker for the car on the Pontiac web site. he said he wasn't sure and then sent me this (http://www.bat-caveonline.com/MiscPics/stuff/2006_GTO_COUPE_INVOICE.htm)

I found it very interesting and will probably use the info when I go into the negotiation phase
