i was wondering if anybody knows how much insurance would be for me when and if i get a TA.. im 15 and im fixing to get my liscense here pretty soon..
the reason im asking is bc i was wanting a 600cc sportbike but insurance on that would be $300+.. i changed my mind to get a 4th gen TA possibly with ws6.. now i beleive we are on state farm with me on a 250 ninja right now paying at around $100 for insurance.. possible numbers for me in a TA would be eccellent.. thanks

Get yourself a good beater car, learn to drive first and get a few years under your belt before you get a WS.6.
Kids don't need WS.6's...

The WS6 is alot higher for insurance than a base TA. Just put the ram air hood on later. It will pay for itself in insuance savings! Just don't get busted doing stupid crap. I just hope you have a good job to pay for it all.

o thats wat i was wanting to do was buy the regular TA w/o the ws6 on it then add on later.. TAs with the ws6 on it already are more expensive to buy too.. and my step mom and my dad are paying for it. hopefully..

Did the same thing as Tbone, im 19 w/ an 01 Trans Am WS6, put it under my dads name and im the secondary driver and listed as primary on our 96 jeep cherokee. He told me i didnt wanna know how much it was if I was listed as primary so I left it at that.

No one can answer this question. Take 10 people with same record, age etc and come up with way different answers.
Basically at your age, you would be on your parents policy. Rates are based on age, driving record/experience, where you live (crime rates, particulary stolen vehicle stats) your parents driving history as well as their credit history. There's more actually, but this is enough to give you the picture.
Chances are, when they get wind of what it's gonna cost, they'll shoot you down unless they're loaded. If you were able to manage to get your own policy, I'd bet your insurance rate would be more than your car payment.
Young unmarried males are in the highest paying category for insurance premiums based on stats that say this group is the most expensive to insure (in damage payouts as well as crash reports.) Your best bet is to call state farm and ask. If and when you get your own policy, plan to sit down for an afternoon with your friendly yellow pages.
Make sure you know what your coverages need to be as well as your deductibles, that way you're comparing apples to apples. The higher your deductible, the lower your premium. But remember, the deductible is what you have to pay out of pocket before your insurance pays up.
Coverages will be different as you age and aquire property, real estate etc. As a young person who owns nothing, minimum state requirements will suffice. Homeowners, on the other hand, need to structure their limits to protect their assets in the event of a judgement against them. If any of this confuses you or creates more questions than answers, do some research on the topic. It will save you thousands over your lifetime.

It won't hurt you, but it won't help you either. Until you fall into a different demographic, ie turn 21, get married, or become female, you're stuck with the highest premiums charged. Keeping a squeaky clean record is expected. It won't score you any brownie points. But if you do get a ticket, wreck, DUI etc, they will rape you hard.

If you make good grades you can get a discount at State Farm and driver ed helps too. I don't think having a motorcycle licenses will help. A TA would be a tough learning car, but what do I know I'm a pothead.

I have 1 speeding ticket, 23 yrs. old, no wrecks. I have an 01 ws.6 I pay $2040.00 per year or $170 per month with $250 collision deductible and a $50 comprehensive deductible. When I first got my car it was $220 per month or $2640.00 per year .It went down considerably when I turned 23. My ex wife, now back together (dont ask) pays around $250 per month for a damn 01 civic with no tickets and 1 wreck! Ain't that some shit?

I have a 2000 WS6, and the insurance was GOING to be $4,000 a year by myself, with no tickets on my record. Age 21.
I created a policy with two cars, a 1990 Buick Century, and my WS6. I put that I drive the buick the most, and he drives the WS6 the most... the WS6 is the 'pleasure' vehicle, and I don't drive to school or work.
I got it for $2,000 for the whole year.
and to keep the flames rollin'... MOST people can't switch the 6speed fast enough/accurately enough to make their times faster... but it IS more fun to most people...
I drive rush hour all the time and a 6spd was out the question... now I sorta wish I had it because it just gives you more control, and I really don't care if I would be slower...

The automatics tend to loose power in the driveline, If you know how to drive, the manual 6spd will usually post faster quarter mile time than an auto.

It does not matter if it's a WS6 or not, the VIN comes up as Formula/Trans Am.

uh, at age 21... the cheapest I could find was from some no-name online insurance company... UNITRIN DIRECT...
I got my 2000 WS6 for $2000 a year, complete full coverage, $250 deductible. I opted out of towing and rental car, however.
Now with the SAME COMPANY, but without my father listed as the primary driver, my insurance was going to be $4500! I have no tickets, and no wrecks.
I tried progressive's site, as well as Geico... both were over $6,000 a year for the same coverage...
So I can personally recommend Unitrin Direct.. the aren't well known.. but I recently caused $3000 worth of suspension damage, from hitting a curb, and they actually covered everything... so it's not just some scam company...

I'm 24.. insured with Allstate with my Camaro and my '02 WS6(Full coverage highest levels for the '02 and liability now for the Camaro as I don't drive it now) I'm paying $664 every 6 months. Thats with a clean record for the last 5 years, but a few speeding tickets and a 16 day suspension before that. So I can't complain.. and when I sell my Camaro (hopefully trading it to a guy for his '82 T/A) it will drop to $450 every 6 months.
As to the auto vs 6-speed... I REALLY was leaning to the 6 speed... but here in Jacksonville, NC the marine traffic is HORRIABLE and no one knows how to drive.. but found the same '02 WS6 black t/a with 38k miles.. but they were asking 26k for it... fuck that... I got my auto for 18k plus tax, tag, and 36,000 mile warranty.

Im 18 with a '99 LS1 Z28. I was 17 when i bought the car and my parents were nice enough to let me put it in their name. We have full coverage and I am the secondary driver. It saves so much - there is no other way to do it. We have allstate - I have no tickets or accidents (i think thats a mirracle at my age with an LS1) and the i have the good student discount. It is $2400 a year for my car under my parents name. (They have clean records too) If i was the primary driver it would have been something like $7000 a year.
As for that transmission get a 6spd. You can shift a 6spd faster than an A4 goes. Automatics have less rwhp than a 6spd. Also i think a 6spd is way more fun - for burnouts and racing. Go ride in a A4 then a 6spd and tell me which is more fun. And the A4 shifts sooooooo slow. You will be cruising all the time if you buy a T/A and the A4 will get boring.
Also since i assume you are in high school everyone thinks that a manual is so badass. All the retarded people that get into your car are like "how does this work" Since most teenagers are losers and drive their parents car or something that they think is cool (like a grand am) get a manual. My parking lot at school has about 350 cars and i know of 3 that are manual. One is me, then another '99 Z28 and then a '01 mustang GT.

and if you build up the auto, there's no chance in hell the standard can keep up...
there's a reason why almost every drag racer perfers automatics..
but I still wish I had a 6speed just for the fun factor... plus when I'm rolling at like 80mph on the highway and some crappy Cobalt SS comes up and wants to race... I wanna stomp them instead of only slightly beating them... the auto just isn't geared right for that :(
also... those super-charged Cobalt SS' are somethin' fierce... lemme tell ya... although when we punched it at 80, I pulled on him the whole time, and once we hit 100, I was pullin way past him cuz his tiny motor starting to wuss-out... but still... a 6-speed, I could have dropped it into 4th and just taken off...

Don't list yourself as primary on the car do it as secondary. I have a 2001 Formula NHRA edition and I am 16 and it is $220 a month full coverage with state farm. Also kids can have fast cars. I mean I have a full-bolt on ls1 with ported heads and a custom ground cam and I drive the car everyday and go to the track just about every weekend and run it on motor and on the kit. So I dont want to hear young people dont need fast cars. I guess I'm just an exception and I am a highly skilled mofo.

Dude you should know your car better then that by now...if you have to go from a high roll make it inbetween 50-70mph. Otherwise the tranny will be in a "dead spot" and not downshift.
well I was driving on the highway at 80mph when the cobalt inched his way up to me... I'm not gonna immediately slow down to 60, then start racing him... doesn't work like that...
but definitely a 6speed would help in a situation like that...

Why not? Stick your hand out the window and motion to slow down...if he wants to run then he'll do it.

the cheapest insurance I could find was Unitrin Direct... on my 1990 v6 firebird, I paid $1000/year for liability... my father listed as main driver, and a secondary car that I was listed as driver to get multi-car discount...
then when I got my 2000 WS6... it jumped to $2000 full coverage... if I was the only one on the policy, it was going to be $4,000...
I got quotes from Progressive and Geico, and even with my father as the primary, it was going to be over $3,000... those guys sure as hell aren't cheap...
