alright my 5 gear doesnt work when i try to put it in, it will grind and just rev, most the time it does even go in. what is causing it.... my bro and I hes had several camaro....think its the syncros to 5th that make it happened..almost randomly not very often it will pop out of 3rd. and under hard driving conditions shifting into 2nd it will grind for a quick second but be fine. do i need to replace all the syncros or just get the rebuild kit? im going to make an appointment at my shop to hook up all my suspension should i always have them rebuild or replace? they are gonna love all my money if i need a rebuild.

Best thing to do is take the transmission to a shop and let them order what you need....It could be blocking rings or shift forks, and not synchros, then your SOL if you bought all synchros ;)...

had identical problem. all my synchros were shot and I had to flip reverse over. the blocker ring on 3rd had no friction material left. go to t56 rebuilds.com and call joe or amber they hooked me up with the best prices on the web for synchros. they knocked 10 bucks each off because I bought 3 of them plus a blocker kit and a 3-4 fork rebuild it yourself. there are great rebuild manuals on the net and ebay and you only need hand tools and a small bearing press. save yourself 500+ dollars in the meantime too! good luck

I totally feel ya! My '00 has been acting funny in reverse. Reverse only grinds and then pops in. I had to put the gear in 5th to smoothly put the car in reverse. Now I cant use my 5th gear without a little grind(if im lucky) most of the time it just refuses to go in 5th......uggh

Guys, check your clutch fluid. I thought I needed a rebuild, mine was hard to get in gear, and was grinding in them all, started with fifth. Turns out my clutch line was laying against a header and most of my fluid had bubbled off. Filled it up, and it works like a charm.
