View Full Version : pacesetters.?'s
Ive heard people having to hack pieces of their k-member to get these to fit. Is this true? How much hacking goes into putting these on. I'm only considering pacesetters cause Id like to save some money and put it towards other parts, but planning on QTP's down the road in a year or so. What do you guys think?

I didn't have to hack anything for mine to fit. Why would you buy another set of headers a year later? Pacesetters will flow as good as QTPs. If you get the coated pacesetters they will last a long time.

I had to disconnect the steering shaft, but other than that mine fit fine.
I have installed two sets one in a auto and one in a manual both fit great, and easy to install.

Did everyone here use a lift? I have my car on jackstands right now... so its probably only 8 to 10 inches higher than if it was on the tires.

That should be fine. I just finished an install and had the car on jackstands at the lowest setting. The higher you get the car, the easier it will be though.

the new pacesetter headers should be fine. i bought a set of the older ones and had to grind on the K-member. They were supposed to be done with that problem a couple of years ago.

Very true. A bunch of my buddies have pacesetters, and the more recently the guy bought the headers, the better they've fit. The worst I've heard is that they had to cut maybe a 1/4-1/2" notch in the K-member, not seriously hack it. That was on some fairly old ones too.

Just put pacesetter lt's on my 01 ss and didnt have to hack anything just make sure you can get the car high enough to slide the passenger side header in place, the hardest part of instail was gettin my dipstick back in place

Was a fairly easy install on my 98, just had to disconnect the steering shaft but other than that it was straightforward.
