Tire Question

I just bought a 99 Z28 that I'll be picking up this coming weekend. It will probably need tires in a few months, and I'm curious what tire you'd recommend.
I've been looking at Tire Rack, and there are about 20 different choices, ranging from 68 bucks a tire all the way up to nearly 200 a tire. It will be my daily driver, but I obviously want the performance to be good besides the treadlife.

I'm leaning towards the BFGoodrich g-Force Sport, which is about 90 a tire, and it seems to have pretty solid reviews. I live in VA, so it does rain here quite a bit, and I'll be going down to Florida for a few months (more Navy schooling). So I need a good all around tire with good performance too.

I've read some good reviews for the following tires used on daily driven F-bodies;
- BF Goodrich G-Force Sport
- Fuzion ZRi
- Kumho Ecsta Supra 712

Appreciate the help. You a Chiefs fan? I lived in KC back in the Schottenheimer (sp?) era. Been a die hard fan ever since, even after living in Denver for 12 years and coming to Virginia with the Navy.

So anyone else got any thoughts on tires? I'll probably keep the stock size (it has stock 16" aluminum rims).

It's a daily driver so I don't really want to spend big bucks for new rims/tires.

Just looking for good all around traction, decent in the rain, and good wear.

I'm running Good Year GS-D3's right now and they are great. Some people say they are to soft in corners, but if you keep the PSI up then they corner good. They are the best wet tire out! Only problem is they are a bit pricey. If you want cheaper I'd say go with the Yokahama AVS ES100. If you want more treadlife do the BFG KDWS. They are mid priced and decent.

BFG KDWS. Check Costco online. I got mine for $142 but they are 285/40/17. Yours should be cheaper.

Quite a bit cheaper than tirerack, with the included road hazard, and free shipping/mounting/balancing. Seems like a good deal. $116.99 a piece. I'll get them in a month or two probably.

I'm actually looking forward to getting some Goodyear GS-D3's myself. Nothing but good reviews except from people too cheap to put them on their own car (so they play them down). Nothing like Goodyears on an American muscle car. Yeah they will wear a bit quick but with all the insurance and crap we have to put up with money-wise, treat yourself to some quality! This is money spent for you, not the profit makers. Buy American. :usa: Canada OK too. :canada:

Some of the Goodyears are made in Germany. I have a set of Ultra-Grip GW3's that are. I can't remember if the GS-D3's are or not. :thinkin:

Can't help that in today's times unfortunately but the money (profit) stays in U.S. hands. Most Goodyear tires are still manufactured in the US/Canada from what I've seen on the sidewalls at a Goodyear retailer but things may change in the future.
People tend to rationalize that Toyota and Asian brands have created jobs in the U.S. when in reality all they have done is close American factories and replaced the GM/Ford/Chrysler factories with their own. ALL the profits go back to the foreign countries and I'm sure many people still remember the speeches made by high ranking Japanese company executives about their dislike for Americans. What do you expect from them when their own parents and grandparents were killed in WWII?? No thanks, I prefer to give my money to American companies whenever possible. Can't always be done but I try especially when it comes to cars and parts. :Patriot:
