optimum battery

hi has any one cut off the two top terminals on the red top battery, i want to put a battery cover but with the top post ???????? so has anyone just cut them off. thanks.

I found a battery cover off ebay for the Optima red top battery and just painted it to match my other covers.

I just read something the other day about Optimas and Jeep winches-Optima wants all high amperage loads (like winches) connected to the top posts of the battery instead of the side terminals. The top posts are more closely connected to the plates of the battery and the side posts are connected off of them(the top posts). So ,knowing that,if you cut off the top posts you would have to do that in a way that you don't damage the connection to the side terminals, and don't use the battery for really high amperage loads because the side terminals can't handle it.
