Man I took my 2001 TA in cause the thing wouldnt start, alarm woulnt chirp and the dealership said they need to replace the theft module, lock cyl and give me 2 new keys. OUCH. I tried all the fixes you guys gave me and nothing, the problem so it goes, is that the security light doesnt come on ,the SES light does, ergo says butt reamers need all this new stuff. Can anyone tell me if this is fair market or do I just look like this?

Sounds like the same problem my wife had with her car which is a grand am. Just out of the blue car would crank but not start.
Tow to dealership = $105.00
Diagnosed and replaced passlock sensor 4530 cg = 189.00
3919 CODE CYL = 25.00
12458191 CYLINDER = 174.26
Same original keys, no need for a new set of keys.
$389.25 to get fixed without tow
$494.25 including tow.
Sounds like the other dealership is on the up and up.
Good luck !

The fix for this probem turned out to be the BCM, it had filled with rain water somehow. The dealerships were stumped and my twin bro (2000 TA) found the probem from the intermitant clicking comming from under the glove box whenever the PCM was reset or the VATS was reset. Thanks for the help and the fix was,
1. 210.00 for new BCM
2. 85.00 for reprommaming

Sure am! Its funny how things work out and how some of these dealerships just try to rape a poor guy. Buy my lowering springs, LCAs and brackets came in today so theyll go in with a smile now.
