When I start my car it takes it awhile. After it gets going I can just smell the gas fumes. What would cause this problem, maybe a sensor is out?
thanks for any help

Where do you smell the gas from?
Under the hood?
Possibly passenger side?

I usually have the windows down when I start it because the AC went out and I dont have $1000 to fix it so it takes about 6 seconds while giving it a little throttle which I shouldn't have to. I just smell the fumes on the inside of the car.

:hmm: Have you had to replace your fuel pump at all? After I replaced mine, I noticed that when my car was cold it would take a few more cranks than before to start up. But usually only when it's cold.

if you get it to start sooner it wont smell as rich when it starts. It smells that way because your cranking the engine over for 6 seconds that 6 seconds worth of fuel being burnt/wasted out your exausht

Take a look around the injectors....... maybe the O rings need replacement?
I'm just brain storming
Front or back of car?

Well here is the word as of right now. I am throwing a code as of a week ago. My friend is still paying me off for my 92RS. So I'm going to dump that money into getting it looked at and pretty much fixing everylittle detail of my car. Cant do anything right now since I'm in New Orleans fighting the good fight. But I will let you know the final decision from the Chevy House. Thanks for the info :usa:
