I've already got a set of block-off plates for my LT1, but it looks like a real nightmare removing the EGR and blocking the tube and header. I'm about to sell the plates and forget about this!! :mad:

Is there any "civilized/human" way of doing this!?!? :cry:
Anyone with past experience please give me some pointers and tips :confused:

All fasteners are studs on the intake,use a 1/4 inch ratchet,I forget the socket size(10mm I think) and a stubby wrench the same size.

Just reach in and work by feel,if I can do it with the size of my arms and hands anyone can.

Thanks for the reply, been reading that the EGR actually helps prevent detonation and removing it will not provide any gains whatsoever, so kinda thinking about doing this, maybe I'll just sell the block-off plates and leave it like it is.

The EGR operates only at part throttle and while lugging the engine(low revs and higher gear)

You might also notice a slight decrease in gas mileage if you do it

The LT4's did not have an EGR, nor did the 97-present Corvettes and 2001-2002 LS1 FBodies.

Once you reach a certain lift and duration with the cam it is no longer required.

the egr is suppose to cause detonation with f/i engines, from what i've heard.

Well if you look at it, the EGR is pumping hot exhuast gas into a mass of air undergoing compression, it can only ADD to the possibility of detonation... but depending on how your engine is already performing, it may as well also provide a better flame front and burn, increasing power and efficiency... but its entirely up to how your engine is running.

yah very true when i said f/i i ment forced induction not fuel injected just to clear that up. cause on the f/i'd cars i had the egr was always removed and it ran better
