I've only had my car about a week and i'm looking through the owners manual and see this section about a security card, how every GTO is issued one, about how i should store it in a safe place. it also said it had some kind of code on it for the radio, vin# etc...what security card!! never got one, never even heard of one until today. i called the dealership and they said i did'nt really need it for anything. (i don't think they have it) but it also says in the manual that if it's lost the owner may have to pay for a new one if the radio needs to be reset. does anybody know anything about this??
thanks, looty

I remember getting one with the keys. I think you need the pin if you, for example, install and aftermarket radio, and then want to replace the original radio for resale of the car.
I didn't really keep mine carefully, it shouldn't be a big deal if you don't change out the radio.

The security card has the Ignition key number, Radio PIN should it ever need to be removed for service and the security number for the alarm and the serial number of your engine.

Not so sure about that. When I unhooked mine for my catback install, I know mine was unhooked for @45 min.s and even the presets remained in my radio.
When I bought mine used, It had no stinking security card and I called Pontiac cust. service and was told that it wasn't really that critical and that the dealership could still access needed info from the car.

I had redtop battery and aftermarket subs/amp installed and they did not need the card but when i had an extra key lazer cut they had to have my card to program it so it would work.
