4L60E questions

yea, im a newbie to tranny's. ive had my car shift at 6200 RPM stock a few times, and was wandering if this is normal. usually it happens if i floor it on a highway and it kicks down a gear to 4000+ RPM.

also, can anyone give me a stock estimate as to when (RPM and est. MPH) the car will shift from 1-2, 2-3, and 3-4. does anybody know anything about OD to explain what it is and how it works? ive asked a few people and i get different answers. also, is it safe to manually shift around (OD, D, 2, 1). thx

my car shifts out of first when i floor it around 45 to 50 mph. As far as the other gears i dont know.Overdrive just feels like another gear but really all it is is a lock up converter.and NO IT IS NOT SAFE TO MANUALY SHIFT YOUR AUTO TRANNY. Now you can install a reverse valve body in it witch takes the hesitaion out of the upshifts but nomatter how you mod the tranny its always rough on it to manualy shift.
