4l60E differences?

Newbie here and need some help.

Short story: Bought and 04 LS1 GTO with 45K miles. 3K miles later the A4 tranny let go. 2nd, 4th and rev are out and coolant in the tranny. Ok time far a rebuild.

Found a 4l60E from a 98 LS1 Trans Am that had been built slightly and 45k miles on it.

Will this tranny work in my GTO?
I need somthing just long enough to to the original rebuilt.

Oh Ya gotta replace the @%!& radiator also!

The old trans sounds like it broke the sun shell, no matter what you put in there the sun shell is a weak link. They make a HP sun shell called the beast but their are other parts that I would replace at that point too.

As for the trans swap, I think the 04 GTO's had 4l65E's not 4l60e's. Is the motor is an LS2? The difference was the 4l65e's have 5 pinion plants were the 4l60e's had 4. You would be down grading your trans if it is a 4l65e in thier now.
