i know this is the wrong section for this but nobody seems to look at the DYNO section:dunno:
ok i have a 2000 trans am with MAC headers, high flow cats, slp airlid, K&N, flowmaster catback, and free mods.
the dyno used was a DYNO DYNAMICS DYNAMOMETER
I only put down 294rwhp and 328rwtq
i have 115,000 miles on the car
is this about right?

Actually quiet good...dayum...look at that RWTQ....screw RWHP...RWTQ is what moves you forward...dayum good numbers....Is this an A4 or M6?
adham

A4

Thouse #'s are kinda low if you ask me. Id expect it to be in the high 320's low 330's. The RWTQ isent to far off. A car with that many miles... who knows. thats almost 20k miles a year. That is alot of driving!!! If you ever wanted to get serious into moding this car id definatly do a rebuild, thats just me though.

Hey Capster...when are you coming to have a Shiner Bock?
Nah...I disagree...this guy is an A4...they locked the convertor up....those numbers are great IMHO....

2 words....Stall Convertor

Yup^^
3200-3500....new car....beast city....

whats a good stall converter?
any suggestions?
so this is supposed to unleash some power?
can someone explain more please?
thanks

Id be carefull. That transmission has alot of miles on it. And by throwing a stall converter on there you are puting alot of wear on an already prety worn tranny.
A stall converter in basic broad terms puts the motor in its power band and keeps it there longer. when you hit the gas with a stock converter it will start accelorating around 1500rpm's or so.. When you have an aftermakret high stall converter it will store all that power untill about 3,000 rpm's and let loose. Its almost like droping the clutch in a stick.

02-11-2006, 03:13 PM
ohhhhh..... i see
does it get weaker in the 1500-2900 rpm range since it will not drop untill 3000rpm???

i think my o2 sensors are fucked up
dsoes this make any difference other than fuel economy?
Sarge
02-11-2006, 03:34 PM
Yes....if the O2's are reading lean they will instruct the computer to dump some fuel at the problem...result...crappy gas mileage and performance...you throwing any codes?
adham
02-11-2006, 03:44 PM
i did throw those codes before
the 2 sensors were bad
then that code went away and didnt come back
adham
02-11-2006, 03:45 PM
he said it was running a little rich
i dont know exactly but he said it should be around 12 (air/fuel ratio)
mine was 10-11 i think...
adham
02-11-2006, 04:05 PM
i didnt mention that the first run was only 276rwhp or something like that
he said it was because the knock sensor came on because of the new headers
the 2nd run was somewhere in the low 280's
the 3rd was the 294
basically it went up like 15 hp every time
who says it wouldnt have gone up the 4th and 5th time???

i just had mine dyno tuned about a week ago, i got 332 rwhp and around the same for torque i cant really remember ( i need to get a copy of the sheet) thats damn strong for just LM2 exhaust and slp lid.

Hey i recently gutted my cats and i feel a big difference and my service engine light came on of course but those this mean i would have to get some of the o2 sensors from SLP (i think) that are used for cars with out o2 sensors? :Ohno:
adham
02-12-2006, 11:00 AM
o2 simulators???
allanmontoya
02-12-2006, 01:38 PM
yea that o2 simulators.. well with those will that better my fuel econmy since they are telling the comp that my cats arent there?
adham
02-12-2006, 02:21 PM
no, the sensors after the cats only throw the codes if the cats aren't there.
the simulators trick the comp so that it thinks u still have the cats
therefore, removing the SES light

I figured headers would have given you more. How bout a tune ?
adham
02-12-2006, 02:36 PM
i dunno....the tune is kinda expensive at 450 and its not gonna give but like 15-20hp at the most
i dont think its worth it
i have bad O2 sensors so they might rob me of hp by throwing off the computer????
:dunno:

Kinda.. but it gets up to 3000rpm's in a hurry because the converter slips all the way to 3000rpms and then locks. Between 1500-3000 rpms the converter is sliping so that the drivetrain just spins without much resistance untill the converter locks.

with your mods a tune will put you around 320-325 im sure of

The converter doesn't lock @ WOT.

Okay, maybe lock was not the best word.. It slips less lol.. there.. ya happy.

ok...if it matters,
my air/fuel ratio is in the upper 10's
how is this affecting anything?

That is going to kill your HP. Lean that sucker out.

is it supposed to be around 12?
how do u make it lean?
how much horse will i gain??

For your mods I would probably shoot for AF of 13-13.5 at WOT. You lean it by first replacing the oxygen sensors and if it is still rich, you may need a tune. You may want to get some new plug wires if you have original wires since you have high mileage.

so that means my o2 sensors are bad?
thats why my air/fuel ratioi is in the high 10's?
i have new plugs and wires

I think it is a bit low too. I've never heard of the "DYNO DYNAMICS DYNAMOMETER" But my wife's 00 Z28 A4 with nothing but a K&N filter put down 292 on a Dynojet. Here is the graph (http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y206/killer_bluebird/05Z28Dyno.jpg).
With your intake and exhaust mods you should have gained 30 or so rwhp over stock. If that dyno is similar to the Mustang dyno then it would produce lower number but I think you should still be over 300rwhp. My .02

They could be bad or just plain cloged up, Also when you install headers in our cars the computer tends to richen up the A/F mixtures.
When I did the exhaust on my car I was surprised that the A/F was dead on at 13. I did not installed headers though, but put an ORY and installed a Dynomouth. I think the fact that I De-Screened my maft might have helped. As people have reported lean conditions when de-screening the maft. However because many cars have reacted differently to that, I would not recomend it for your car. Like brad8266 said change the front o2 sensors and reset the computer, If that doesn't help get it tuned. Keep in mind that most dynotunes are going to run you about $400-$500.
