Alright, I will start out by saying that one of the things I hate the most is when people ask what they should do and how much power it will make. But even though I feel that way, I can't help but to kinda go against my ways a little. What I am getting at is I just bought a 98 Trans Am, and I got a better deal that I expected to - so I know have a little over $3,000 to start modding. I can't think of another way to figure it out, and since I suck with bolt on/internal engine stuff still, I am wondering what I could expect to be able to have done (professional Installation BTW) for the $3000. The car is a stock M6. Obviously I would like to make the most power, and I want to do the mods in the correct order. EX: Intake/Exhaust BEFORE Cam. I would greatly appreciate any advice on this from all you guys who know your stuff!
Thanks In Advance

Track car? DD and track? What's more important to you? Power or driveability?

I would start with a lid($90), SFC($200ish installed) and a short throw shifter stick, Ebay has em for $25 or so. Then I'd go coated Pacesetter LT, ORY($500) & Hooker CB($275) or Magnaflow CB($450). Install for headers prob around $300-$500 depending on where you live.Get new spark plugs while they are in there. That's right around $1600-$1700 right there. That leaves you with $1300-$1400 for a cam package ($600 ) and $700-$800 for install and tune. If you have a few hundy leftover I'd get some LCA too, $200ish installed.

Hmmm....nice advice so far-thanks Hurley. It is definately a weekend warrior/nice weather driver. I have my 05 F-150 to use as a DD, so I do want driveabilty, but its not as serious as a DD(?) You guys think I can do a full exhaust and get a cam, including all necessary components, all installed, and topped with a tune for $3000ish? I know there are so many variables, but should I be in the ballpark? Also, anyone from MI please let me know of where is good to look at for the work/tune!!

places like speedinc in the winter run specials on cam kit, install and tuning.
generally it will cost around $1300.
now get headers( pacesetters) and y pipe for about 850 installed.
air lid, about 100 bucks, subframe connectors installed about 200 bucks,
hooker exhaust installed about 350.
paid of nitto 555r tires so you can hook are about 300.
depending on what kind of cam you get, you can hit around 400 to the wheels.

:werd:

But be careful with 400 to the wheels, or even with just bolt-ons...don't dump the clutch too high with stickies or your rear might take a shit on ya....might not blow the first time but all it takes is once.
