Auto shifter

The plastic boot vibrates at certain power bands and I hate to have to tap it or shift it around to shut it up. I don't have a problem taking off the center console but I can't figure out how to take the shifter portion off. I can feel a clip just don't know how to go about it, looking to get a leather boot from a grand prix and see if that fits otherwise i'll try and find one in a junkyard that hasn't been rained in. Tips, picks tricks?

My older cars had a pin that slid in from the front to lock the handle on. It was like a wide staple. Just use a flat head to pry it out. It will be easier to see with the shifter in 1 and the car off.
