Well im 17 still in high school and i finally scrounged up the money to buy a trans am. theres this kid at school thats mommy and dad bought him a 03 mustang gt for his b-day or something and when i drove my t/a to school he started talking shit, soo i said only one way to settle this. We drove out to the local park, which has a straight stretch of about a half a mile. He pulls up and revs the piss out of it i just look over and say ok on 3. i honk 3 times and punch it to the floor hard, i look over and the look on his face is shock as i pass his ass and take him by about 18 car lenghts :devil: in the end. then he pulls up and says ohh its cuz i spun, so we race back the other way this time he trys passing me so i punch it again and pull hard on him and i never looked back. So im pretty sure he got the message that i have the fastest car at school if not :Pow:

take him to hte local drag strip, wont get any slip there. or atleast barely any at all with a couple of stock cars. then you will really see how fast both cars are.
yah 99-04 GT's are not fast stock. They only have around 265hp. I have an 01. I just use it as a VERY nice sounding cruising vehicle, LOL. My parents T/A is SOOOOO much more fun to drive!!! especially since they put magnaflows on it.

The GT/CS is what 315HP? It should be a close run against the Firebird. I would imagine a drivers race. The 98-04 Mustangs have little power unless you have a Cobra, then you're getting closer. 2011 Mustang vs 2011 Camaro will be what I'm waiting to see. The 2010 will probably give the older F Body cars a good run too.
I have both a Mustang and a WS6. I love them both.

Quite a few members on here drive mustangs or other non-LSx motors and unless I'm reading his post wrong he's saying mustangs arent that fast. Anyway nice kill have fun with the new toy.

well im not saying all stangs are slow but that guy kinda pissed me off cuz i felt like he was dissing my car by saying his 07 or w/e gt/cs was faster, considering my cars like close to ten years older id say its pretty fast for its age, but i love it cant wait till i start modding it out hoping to get it into 11's or faster

crimson sin used to have a camaro. cammed and geared if i remember right. traded it for his current mustang for practicality. if i remember right there was an impending problem with his old camaro.

Ive only seen one seen a stock for stock race in my life and i used to love to drag race (now its boring thats why i bought an audi and parked the mustang).It was between a 5.7 GTO and a modular mach 1 which barely pulled at top end. I've raced a 420whp 26psi evo (worked the spoiled brat dirty and he even went of the 2nd beep both times), a header intake exhaust fuel rail tuned ls1 TA (from a dig he did ok only got em by 2 cars and he knows how to drive ive known him since we were 16 when i had a 16v GTI and he had a hopped up cavalier and im still beating him haha) a mercedes sl55 amg (hung VERY close till top of 3rd) turbo rsxs (he claimed boost leak but consistent 14lbs isnt leak to me and a loss is a loss) a procharged 02 GT (without spray we were dead even till third then he pulled, with spray i worked em) a C6 Z06 with exhaust and intake (from a roll he began pulling the top of my third and slowly kept pulling even with spray) a ferrari 360 modena (unknown mods very loud but it was stop light to stop light so i hooked and ran away) a bently continental GT (he wanted a roll and was very competitive but slower than the mercedes) a brand new skyline GT-R with exhaust (he wanted a 30 roll and i got up and ran away then he started catching up and ended up creeping on my door when i let off at ~110. Well i took my car out tonight for alittle fun cuz the rain shut down, so i was cruzing around then some guy in an 06 gt pulls up to me and gets on it and lets off like he wants some then i do the same, he falls back around 3 car lenghts, then drops it down a couple of gears and punches it passes me , so i punch it i catch up alittle the he BARELY pulls on me pissed me off so damn bad. The guy was cool about it though i stopped and talked to him he had a manual car with an tune, everything else stock. Buttttttt later that night i raced an auto 06 and pulled on it so idk about the verdict on that one. So i pull in to walmart parking lot , i have a few things i need to pick up and theres this bad A 01 mustang with mods you can see like exhaust and EFFING HUGE ASSED tires on the back, i stop and chat with him and ask if he wants to run just for shits i ask what his mods were and he tells me he has 4:10s with nitto555's and full exhaust with an intake and tells me he pulled a 13:8 in a quarter. So im with my sisters bf and he says race him, so we drive down to some area that has a long straight stretch and we square it off and he honks it 3 times i easy into it hoping not to spin, he just romps it and gains 3 car lengths damn fast im like ohh shit, then something mirraculus happens, hits 2nd gear and i catch him reallllll fast and pass him in like holy shit wtf just happend but i put 2 car lengths on him, and we stop and talk bit and he drives off lol. I was freakin shocked OHHH I GOT THAT RACE ON VID TOO HAHAHA:devil:

I had a 97 Cobra and my 98 Z/28. If you venture on SVTP there are just as many LS1 owners as mustang owners. Same with LS1Tech.

i have to get some kinda cord for my new phone so i can download them on the computer first but i'll post them eventually, and i g-tec'ed it and i ran 5.1 for 0-60 but idk the guy i ran with the modded 01 gt said he was pulling 13.7 or 13.8 idr and i pulled around 2 cars on him so im running around there

haha yeah the only reason most cobras and gt500s are fast is cuz they have a huge blower pushin a ton of air through their lil blocks, not sayin i wouldnt love to have a blower/ super charger

Then explain to me how a stock 03-04 Mach 1 with a little 4.6L DOHC without a supercharger can run the same times as a stock F-Body? Both can run 13.1-13.4 stock.
BTW, BlkCloud's 99 Cobra that had no nitrous and not supercharger/turbo was running mid 11's back in the day too.

No, Blkclouds 99 cobra had just bolt ons and the car made like 320whp and went mid 11s with drag radials and low 11s with slicks. The car did have drivetrain and suspension work but was only making the power of a bolt on f-body and the cobra weighed like 3300-3400lbs. The car was dialed in to launch hard, i mean the guy was getting the front tires 5 feet off the ground with slicks and 305ishwhp.

Oh really genius? Here is a tidbit of info. All 96-04 Cobras were DUAL OVER HEAD CAM along with the GT500 just like the Mach 1. You said the Cobras and GT500 needs a big blower pushing air to make it fast, yet the Mach 1 has the same motor with NO BLOWER and was running low 13's stock just like the LS1. So what is your comeback to that? I suggest you just sit on the sideline and let those that know what they are really talking about handle the discussion.
Oh and don;t play the "If an LS1 had blah blah". You sound like a keyboard ricer. What if my sister had a d!ck, would she be my brother?

Every point you've made is completely wrong and or irrelevant. Just because a motor DOHC vs. a single cam doesn't automatically make it superior or faster.
For instance Toyota's 1UZ-FE V8 is a very well built motor with DOHC design, and it makes 256hp stock. The GM LS7 and LS9 engines make 505hp and 638hp stock, respectively, on a single cam.
It's quite clear you have no idea what you are talking about and you're doing a very poor job trying to glorify the LS1.

To better educate you... in the end it basically comes down to cubic inches. The lsxs are great motors but no engineering breakthrough. The modulars can get the job done but I'd love to have another pushrod with the options for going bigger.

stock for stock an ls1's time is usually 1-2 tenths quicker in the 1\4 than the mach. sure they are close but the ls1 comes out on top most of the time.

Yes. I have also seen most stock Mach 1's run 13.1-13.3 just as I see stock LS1's run the same.

I like reading these but don’t normally post but if I don’t I will get a message very soon that says I should. My feelings, who has a car that’s stock and if you do you are missing all the fun! If you haven’t been beaten, you are not looking hard enough! I like Mustangs I don’t have anything against any other persons car; I don’t have to put their car down to make me feel better about mine. My last DD was a mach 1 312/329, go to the track 5 or 6 times a year, run 8.1-8.3 most of the time in the 1/8th had a lot of fun lost some, won some but I guess I need to find some of these cars on both the ford and chevy forums because I haven’t really seen that many at the track. Racing is alive and well!!!

stock for stock an ls1's time is usually 1-2 tenths quicker in the 1\4 than the mach. sure they are close but the ls1 comes out on top most of the time.
And when two cars are that close, one little mistake, and you're toast!
The Mach 1 has gearing and midrange torque in it's favor, which usually means the LS1 is playing catch up at the top of the quarter mile.
The mistake most Mach 1 drivers make is that they run the car out of it's power band up top by winding third gear out to about 6.8k rpms, when power started dropping off back around 6,200 rpms.

Do what? What is "the comp"? Assuming "the comp" is compression, what does that have to do with how high the motor will spin?
As for the Mach I...it has a good gearing advantage in 1st, some in 2nd, and slight advantage in 3rd and 4th (very slight). However, compared to the LS1, it does not have a mid-range advantage. The Mach 1 engine certainly makes better mid-range power than the earlier N/A 4.6 DOHC motors, but cannot compare to the LS1 at what are typically considered "mid-range" rpm.
Overall, I agree with Big Hammer on the Mach vs LS1....close enough in the 1/4 mile to be a driver's race, but if all goes equal, the LS1 should edge it out.

Further....changing cams (and nothing else) won't have much affect on the peak power rpm in a 4V. It is the intake, and more specifically, runner-length that determines the powerband on these motors.

Correct, stock redline on a Mach 1 is 6800, fuel shutoff is around 7200, and the speed limiter is somewhere around 152ish, but I never ran up against that one, plus the rev limiter, speed limiter, and fuel shutoff can easily be adjusted up or down with a simple hand held tuner.

There is more than my Camaro spanking a Mustang, etc, etc, etc. Actually our old 97 Cobra could beat our Camaro's ass in a race any day of the week. Each time I was in the Cobra, the wifey would lose.
If you have a tastefully done car and it is fast, it is good in my book. Heck, I just got back from a Subaru meet where there were tastefully done 11 and 12 second Legacy GT sedans and STI's at my work.

well the only thng i really like about mustangs is they all sound good lol im not to fond of four door cars though but subarus are pretty kick ass, i like the honda s2000 they look pretty sleek, my other car is a 72 el camino ss haha i cant beat my trans am , well not yet anyway but its in fair condition"drivable" in other words but needs alot of work so me and my dad are taking it and having ever panel replaced and so, but i guess i can see why ppl like mustangs because i like a muscle truck basicly haha but hey it pulls pussy and its in its 30's haha

BTW my car all of the sudden is starting to have electrical problems, like its radio shuts off and on and the windows wont work. It just randomly happens when i drive. What is it? A ground problem or something more serious. If you have any answers please post because it gets on my nerves when im listening to my favorite tunes and the fucker just shuts off in the middle of " dont stop beliving".
