View Full Version : Help!: 4l60e vss ecm

i have a 94 trans am 4l60e rebuilt stage II built myself. drove perfect for about 2 months but just recently have been having problems with shifts. can be driving along the road then the speedo goes crazy shifts gears will seem to nuetral out then kick back in. figure it was vss changed it work for a day or so then same thing checked all grounds nothing all good pulled my ecm to see it if would change anything plugged it back in works good for a few then back to the same thing sometimes it gwets stuck in over drive kinda at a lose..... could it be a bad ecm could it be i need to flush tranny ? any help will be much appreciated.:boxing: its kicking my butt

when you say the speedo goes crazy that useually means an elcectrical problem and on the 4l60e that can mess with the shifting. so check the wiring from the speedometer and make sure there isnt a short somewhere.then if worse comes to worse change out the pcm with another one.perferably a friends car so you dont have to buy one.and go from there

okay i ran through the wiring again an one of the wires running off the vss was chaffed and was grounding out on the tranny thanks for the help was hopping there wasnt another rebuild ahead of me lol.

Let us know if that was it after a week of driving. More than likley was but a good tool for people searching for answers on the forum

Okay have driven the car for a little over a week. Took it on an nice cruise yesterday about 30 miles out to the island and back. Did a few throttle runs and set cruise at 80 mph perfect shifts one problem state trooper pulled over buddy that was cruising with me for 81 in 55 but trans shifts great. Dang superchargers draw to much attention with there whistling noise lol
