I just had my tranny rebuilt. I thought I recieved the whole upgrade. All I got was a rebuild with a shift kit. I am building a 383 ls1 with about 530 hp give or take. My car ways about 2900lbs. I will be using a cirle D 3700 stall converter with a 2.5 STR. How long should I expect the tranny live? I have nittos and it will basically only be driven on weekends and at the track.

Yeah. I am being told that it will break pretty quick and possibly ruin my brand new converter. The tranny only had 38000 miles on it. I expect they did basic wear replacement on parts and added a shift kit . Now I have to pay $2000 to get it right at century transmission. It doesn`t even have fluid in it yet.

Get the beast sun shell because that will break way before the clutch pack goes out. and then do a good clutch pack, 2-4 band, Servo at the least. Shouldn't cost that much to have someone go in and replace those parts.

I'm still running the original 4l60e in my 98. I have the beast sunshell and HD clutches with a 4600 stall. Been racing it for a good 8 years now.
It will last forever !!! LOL, I better go knock on some wood now !!! :look:

You don't need extra power to break the sun shell. Mine went with 38,000 miles and no mods at that point.

I dropped off my tranny over the weekend at circle D and picked up their 3600 stall converter.

ok for any one who plans on racing their automatic f-body and wants to not ever worry, heres what you need: the beast sun shell (no other replacement even comes close),Z-pac raysbestos cluthes & colene steels, super servo,5 pinion planetaries front and rear, shift kit(transgo is what ive used most),trans cooler (biggest you can fit),stall (depends on engine spec.),hardend inner sprag race ,and im working on making a billet pump rotor which is the last weak point in this trans, other than the input and output shaft.so after you put this in your trans youll probly need a new rear but youll never have to worry about the trans again . hope this helps
