ok i have a 98 camaro ss with full exhaust and slp intake and slp maf... the guy that sold it to me said it was about 375 hp.Then i lowered it using ebays k sport lowering springs... ma clutch is almost out. so heres the scenerio i show up to race wars expecting to beat ma friends mustang gt with upgrade rear end and street tires (im on street tires too) so when the light turns green im at 3000 rpm and release ma clutch expecting to jump even with ma friends gt but suddenly he jumps like 2 cars ahead of me (while im spinnig) so i redline and shift to second but no traction still really soon hit 6000 rpm shift to 3rd and at 5500 rpm im still spining:sillyme: while ma friend is like 4 cars ahead of me??? how is this possible i know is silly question, i need to practice ma launch but thats way too much of a difference in traction. i know ma ls1 can do big damage ive done it before on the street but at the track it seems to just spinn crazy with no go!!!!! can it be the water they pour that makes me loose traction? ma clutch?? rpm launch???or tires? suspension?? any recommendations please i would appreciate it!!!!

Since the car is lowered, you need LCA relocation brackets. My guess is, your control arms are way down in the front. They need to be angled up in the front towards the crank of the motor. Torque arm & other suspension mods will also help. Here's an ebay link.

Well first of all I hope your running the tires clean by doing a quick burnout.

Then definitly dont try a 3K clutch dump...most people do well around 2K. and if your spinning let off the throttle....keeping it to the floor will just keep you spinning.

Your LS1 has so much more power/torque than the mustang. just realize that and know that you cant do big clutch dumps and pinning it to the floor especially when you are already spinning.

Hope this helps....im no expert on track racing.

The suspension advice was very good up top, also trust your car. Take off clean dont dump at 3k lol, try 1500 and then 1800 and so on till you get it right. Once your car gets good traction youll do good and the mustang will be passed once you get into 3rd. With the way your driving it even if you hit 3rd you've fallen to far behind to do much about it by the end of the quarter. Dump some air out of those tires and warm them up nice for now.

go easier out of the hole or get some drag radials

If you get drag radials get a new rear because 3k will turn into 4K or more real quick.

did everybody miss the second sentence where he says"ma clutch is almost out"? are we all sure its the tires that are spinning? also, if you arent going to do a burnout to heat up your tires you need to drive around the water box so you dont get any on your tires.

a friend told me it could be the clutch slipping and not the tires... in a way it makes sense cuz it revved so fast it almost felt like if was in neutral. it was ridiculous. also it was ma first time on the track. i have raced other cars in the street (no other people around) and beat them easy;) so i was expecting to perform good at the track lol!

ma guess is clutch is slipping with the nasty 375hp and the 3k dumps probably havent been helping ma suggestion is a new clutch ls7 or monster stg 2...then look at your suspension I think it be a good idea to follow above suggestions also tires street tires and tracks dont relate to the greatest performance

:werd:

First thought was spinning clutch, not spinning tires.
Unless of course he is running worn down 235's on the back or something....

I've heard of people doing it, i don't know what it all entails. You will have to do a search, i know nothing about it since I drive an auto

not anymore! the stock clutch was pretty much gone. i used to feel i could not go past 3k rpm or else it would spin. but now with the ls7 it pulls really hard. ill be ready to get revenge on that mustang lol!!:boxing: and more mods coming!!!!!!
