Hey guys, I went to the track yesterday and after some tire-spinning, I have rubber all over my wheel well and on the quarter panel. I've heard bug & tar remover would help remove this...I've scrubbed all afternoon and pretty much went through a whole bottle of it...it won't come off. It seems too thick(the rubber). Does anybody have any suggestions on how to get this off in a way that won't damage the paint(and whatever material the wheel well is made from)? Thanks, and I'll know better next time to put some burnout guard before I run.

You may want to try using paint thinner on a rag or a heat gun to loosen the bond. I wouldn't use them together as paint thinner is flameable.

ive used a body scrub or prewax cleaner from mequires when i took out a few cones at the road course and transferred rubber from them on to the car.

I've also heard that hitting your lower quarters with a quick mist of WD-40 before your track fun will help it come right off. I've never tried it though.

Take the car to a car wash and use a high pressure sprayer. Will take the big stuff off, then some bug and tar remover will take care of the rest.

you can use a clay bar.

The previously mentioned suggestion about WD-40 is also valid for removal after the fact. I use it to remove thick tar splatter and such. It works so much better than any bug/tar remover I've ever tried. Just don't "scrub" with it. Soak it well and let it soften the rubber for you. Then wipe away.
