Nice car. I've always loved the 1st gen Monte's.
My grand parents had one, '70 sb400. I told them to let me know when they were ready to get rid of it but they had it junked without telling me. I now we're suposed to respect our elders but that was just wrong.

just so everyone is aware. After you've all said what you're going to say I'm going to go back and delete all the posts that aren't ET posts.....just makes it easier for me to sort through the thread when adding others to the list.

in the upper left corner there's a button called the "new thread" button. You guys are more than welcome to use that to start a new thread and communicate with each other that way instead of whoring up my ET thread.
I'll make a "how to" on starting a new thread later. :D

lsx is the greatest small block ever produced period. Durability, power, and potential dusts anything before it. The heads alone on the lsx motors would've been pure race heads not that long ago.

I was with a few buds from the other forum at a car show last night and folks who remember me can't remember my name, but remember my car's cam lope. :yup:
One guy complimented me on my wheels and so did his friends. Made me a happy guy.

LSx motors have lots of grunt. I like having power on standby when needed.

I'll tell you 2 non-gm engines that I've been impressed with. The ford 300. Probably one of the best 6'ers out there. Reliable and made tons of torque. I know 6-7 guys that have that motor in a pickup and they all have waaay over 100k on those motors.
The other one is the 7.3 powerstroke diesel a buddy has in his truck. That thing will pull stumps.

I agree with the 300/4.9. we have some of those in front of C6's that are well over 200k. I'm a die hard GM guy buy I have to admit ford builds a good truck. Ugly as sin but good.
I've only had the one BBC but I've driven a bunch. There's just something about the sound not to mention the low end grunt that brings a big old smile to the face every time you get behind the wheel of one.

my dad used to have a car/engine he used to talk about that I wish I could've taken a ride in. It was a 63 dodge phoenix with a 413 cross ram. Came factory with 2 4 barrels that sat out over the fenders and this big long ass intake. I got on a site once and asked some dodge guys about it but they said that motor didn't come in that car or something like that. I told my dad and he said the guy he bought it from special ordered the car. The guy he bought it from is still alive but old as hell. I'd like to give him a call and ask him about the car sometime. That motor only made like 300ish HP but made over 500 ft/lbs of torque.

he used to talk about racing it back when he was younger. He had the cops chasing him through town once and he slowed down and pulled off on a gravel road and down shifted and knocked all the headlights out of the cop car. My grandma used to say she hated driving it because of how it drove. I'd love to have that car right now....probably be worth a pretty penny if it was a special order.

My old 65 GTO 389 would get sideways in a heartbeat. Learned to feather the throttle at a young age :)
