I went out for a little cruise just to enjoy the beautiful weather today. I'm just rollin down I-77 and glance in the rearview and about poo my pants. On my 6 rides a red 348s. Piloting this exotic is a middle-aged gentleman in his $300 aviator sunglasses.
We make our way through traffic and he glides up along side. I am waiting in anticipation for him to jump...but he doesn't. After a few seconds I figure this isn't gonna happen. Just when I finish that thought he nails it, catching me off guard. I finally downshift and hammer 3rd, after he jumps out about 2 cars, and stop his pull. I start to reel him in at the top of 3rd and shift to fourth but we have to shut down due to traffic. I exited about a mile later. We exchanged waves and went about our way.
I have only had my T/A for a month and I already have a race with an exotic. I must be the luckiest dude ever! With that said, I need more mod money!

oh yeah mods: free mods, ported MAF, lid, slp loudmouth II, pro 5.0 shifter

i wouldnt even consider it a race, so dont worry about loosing, he obviously jumped be4 you even knew you were racing

I've looked for specs on the ferrari, I can't find too much info. I remember seeing low 13's estimated times. Don't know what year the one I raced was or if it had any mods. He lives up this way so i'll see him again...

I believe the 348 had high 13s low 14 sec quarter mile times. Any appropriately running LS1 should take it.

Wow!, $100K!!! Sheesh!! I'll stick to my LS1... Think about getting headers and other bolt-ons man. One of the most noticable changes believe it or not was when I got a Power Programmer.

headers and maybe 4.10s are next. He got a good jump on me but I was reeling him in quick before we had to shut down. I never even got above 100 before the traffic.

If this is a street/daily driver kinda car you're racing around I would go for 3.73's... They seem to be more street friendly than 4.10's. Just my opinion tho.

4.10's are the devil...

Nice race tho

what speed were you at when you nailed it? I'm just thinking, if you had to shut down before you hit 100, you were on it for a very short time. If you're at or under 65 mph, downshift to 2nd. That is if you have an M6. You'll pull a hell of a lot faster.

I was at or a little above 70, I was only in it for a few seconds. I shifted from 6th to 3rd. I was wanting him to slow down a bit not only to give us more room to work with but to also put me in a better spot for a downshift to 2nd.

gotcha.

I wouldn't exactly consider it a loss. But, whatever. Sounds like a fun run.

that's just cool that the dude finally hit the gas. old rich folk normally aren't ones to race. I'm with WIW, i don't think it was a race, too short

I had a similar experience with a 360 Spyder not to long ago. The guy punched it next to me and got a few lengths, but once I got down a few gears we were pulling pretty evenly. Very sweet sounding vehicle.
