PRO 5.0 problems

I finally got a chance to install my pro5.0 shifter today. The return spring is so weak it will not center itself from the 1-2 position. Is anyone else here having this problem? My buddy has a pro5.0 in his car and the spring seems much stronger. Overall im very disappointing with this shifter... I remember reading a post a while back about how someone used bolts on top of the springs to increase spring pressure. I tried putting bolts/washers on top of the return springs but it just seemed to jam it up. Pretty bummed that i spent so much money on this shifter only to re-install my stocker. :thumbdn:

call pro 5.0 they back there shifters!!! I have had no problems with mine.

Shouldn't it have come with extra springs to change the tension??? I know the aftermarket shifter I bought had another set of springs so you could swap them out and adjust the tension to driver feel.
I would assume the Pro 5.0 would do the same????

Mine was the same way. I did some searching and found lots of em come that way. Didn't seem to matter while driving.

I for one like a stiff center spring. It helps tremendously on the 2-3 shift. You don't have to concentrate so much on moving the shifter over,,,just stab the clutch and shove the shifter forward,,,let the spring do the work.

exactly why i hated it... It just feels so sloppy not to have it spring back like it should. The factory shifter has a much stiffer spring which i like. I'll probably try and mess with it some more if not just try and sell it. It was on the car for maybe an hour if anyone is intrested.

What shift boots are you using?? If you're using both the base shift boot (floor to shifter, has a "6" on it) as well as the rubber boot that goes from the shift stick to the base (came with the optional Hurst shifters, not sure about the regular shifter) it may be hindering the movement.

Only use the base shift boot, the other boot takes away shift smoothness and makes it feel mushy.

I didn't have the boot on when i noticed how crappy the springs where... i took it around the block without the console or anything attached, then parked it and put the stocker back in. It bothers me because my buddy has the same shifter in his TA and the springs are much stronger..

Hmmm I guess I didn't really notice that on mine, but maybe because it feels fine. This is the first time I heard of that problem. You should call them and maybe they will send you another one.
