I have a friend considering a certain set of used headers.
He has an 02 SS.
No EGR, but it does have AIR. What would he need to do to install properly without SES light, and still pass emissions?

OR is that even possible??
For some reason, I don't think a lack of the hidden air pump would cause him any problems with emissions.

EDIT: I know the AIR codes would need deleted. Or is there a way to keep the pump and block off the hoses.

where is it going to be inspected? some palces do a visual inspection to make sure that all emissions hardware is intact

Colorado.

I am thinking we could just leave the air pump there, and delete the codes, and be fine.

if your pulling the egr..you might as well pull the air too..and delete all emissions codes.

EGR isn't there. Talking about an 2002 car, not mine.

Do the headers he's looking at not have the hookups for the AIR on them? The Pacesetters I have on my car come equipped with the AIR tubes that bolt right up so you can keep your AIR. Other than that, you'll need a catted Y-pipe and/or O2 sims.

Right.
That is why they are race headers.

I was trying to make sure we wouldn't have any problems if he bought my headers. He bought them, we will just leave the AIR pump there, but disable it.
