shifter question

drove my dads 98 a4 today and when i got back to the house put it in park and it stayed in drive...???every gear is drive. i figured it was the linkage or something but not sure..very sure its something simple..let me know what yal think

Sounds like a cable problem. Could be broken or come disconnected from the tranny. You need to get under the car to check it out.

does it stay in drive but also go in the other gears at the same time
