Ok.... my cars a stock 00 WS6. I'm putting in a transgo hd2 shift kit... I plan on going with a stall in the future..... However I dont have the money for the rearend, gear, stall etc etc at this point.. My question is...... What trans cooler should I install at this point? I want to drive my car on the street with a 3k stall in the future.. Its not a daily driver! I was thinking the 24k from B&M but will that handle the stall and 500-700hp I plan on firing through it in the near future?

Thanks alot guys I feel like such a noob :sillyme:

Bill is right. Figure out where you want to mount it and then stick the biggest one you can fit in that area.

yea I went with a 24000 gvw from napa for 46 bucks, did you leave the radiator cooler in the loop?I've been afraid to pull the rad. cooler out of the loop till I can get a trans temp gauge.

I did leave mine in the loop. More cooling !

Yes just as Bill states, I left the radiator in the loop as well, the more the better. I do this on every car.

Just make sure you tap into the return line to the trans for the auxillary cooler so it doesn't have to work as hard,,,letting the radiator get the brunt of it first. That way the auxillary cooler that is more efficient does an even better job of cooling. :)

Sweet thanks guys I'll keep all that in mind when I do it. I'm hoping 1st or 2nd week in march. 2nd to 3rd shift at the track is sloooooow and sluggish. cant wait for the shift kit to get rid of it.

Yes I agree with the others. A cooler fluid temp gives crisper shifts aswell. Can sometimes make some difference in those ETs too. You may know this already, but make sure you mount your cooler where it gets cooler air.
Holy SshhhhhCHirp!! C ya!

Good question........... i've heard mixed answers on where to mount it...... Some say not to mount it in the raditor and some say thats where they mounted it. wtf I'd think the raditor cause more cool air is around there am I wrong? Thanks...

On the 4th gen I didn't have much choice but to mount it on the front of the consdensor.
There was really no room anywhere else to mount it for me, especially the big cooler that I wanted to stick in there unless I started hacking the car up,,,something I wasn't going to do.
My other option was to mount it behind the radiator but in front of the coolant fans. This was a way to hide it but the idea of the cooler getting already heated air from the condensor and the radiator changed my mind.

On the older cars I prefer to attatch the cooler to the rear of the grille. It's not near the radiator but it's still front and center and has room for air to run through as well as behind it. Just no room on the 4th gens to do anything like that.

Damnit I wish I knew where the hell I should mount this beast when I put it in.
