got a surprise yesterday

so me and my buddy drove over to bremerton wa, about 4 hours from where we live, to have his slightly modded '03 cobra put on a dyno and to get a tune up. on the car ended up putting down 456 hp and 471 tq to the wheels. so its not too bad

so after we leave the shop, we start heading home. as we started getting close to tacoma we started running into some heavy traffic. i noticed a little ways ahead of us that there was a white Evo that was eventually going to be merging into our lane. so my buddy lets the evo get in front of us. traffic was slowed down to about 5-10 mph so when the evo was pulling in front of us, we hear the evo and right away we both knew it was all cammed out and stuff from the lope it had. he followed us for about 15 miles or so before we found an open spot on the interstate. the evo pulls up next to us and the guy looks over at us and gives a nod. he then downshifts and when he honked the third time, we took off. the evo took us by a probably 4 or 5 cars from about a 45 mph roll in 3rd. both of us were like HOLY SHIT, that little car had some nuts on it. it sounded like a friggin jet taking off just from the turbo. so we catch up to him and my friend looks over at him smiling and saying ''what the fuck is in that thing?" he just kinda smiled and gave us an approved nod. my friend montions for one more race and this time we took off from maybe a 30 roll in 2nd. the evo ended up handing us our ass by about 7 or so cars.

we didnt get to talk to the guy or anything but we both just gave each other a thumbs up and he took his exit. i live in a small town thats over run by a lot of imports but none of them are a problem for me and in my TA and especially my friend in his cobra, unitl that one. just thought i'd share that with everyone

But I will definately give props to any import blowing away a 450+ hp anything...that either took a lot of money, or a lot of time and patience, but probably both.:burnout: Of course, being a former owner of a turbo import, it's a little easier for me to give props.

It must be fun to jump up and surprise the shit out of a badass domestic owner. a 450 rwhp Cobra is a quick car, and not one that is likely to be beaten in months of just driving around out on the street. Yeah I know pump gas, if I remember correctly, there is a high octane pump right down the road from his shop. I think its 100 octane or 110. Cant remember.

I go to Dragway 42d for test and tune as well, of course I would be the one still sitting at the tree as he runs a 9 lol. I used to know a few guys that had DSMs who had that shop worked on them. Lost touch with those guys though...

I have to admit 10k in alot of performance cars will make a huge difference, one thing though is this car makes up alot of its e.t in its first 60ft due to 4 wheel drive. If this was a RWD car with the same power and weight you'd have to dump alot of money into it to get it to hook up, just putting on slicks aint gonna do it. I do like evo's though, if you take the time to really look at the car the fenders, rear and front bumpers and the hood the car starts to stick out more. Stock form unless your racing off the line the LS1 will easily have it beat but everything else the Evo takes it, with a few mods its easy to pick up Hp with the evo as well.

That car has a hell of a lot more than $30,000 in it. By the time you add everything up its got to be close to double that number. You don't build an all out race car on $30,000, not happening. Those cars are not cheap to built in the least, everything is expensive, its a mitsubitchi.
