Finding out Rear end gear?

I read the FaQ but it just told how to fing out what rear end gear by counting the teeth. Is there a way to find out what you have by the VIN #? A sticker somewhere on the car maybe? Thank you!

auto is either a 2.73 or 3.23,
m6 3.42.
If it's auto the option code GU5 on the door means 3.23 rear.

Look at the RPO codes on the drivers side door:

GU2 2.73
GU5 3.23
GU6 3.42

You mean 3 or 4 channel? The NON TCS cars are 3, with one sensor on top of the pumpkin - TCS cars are 4, with a sensor at each rear wheel.

What I was asking is how do I know which one I have? I have 2000 Formula WS6 TA A4 with 3.23.

Sorry, still not sure what you're asking...NW9 is the TCS RPO code, '99 and up have the Torsen unless it has the SLP Auburn option.

thanks for that info on the GU codes, i was always wondering what mine was, guess i got lucky with the GU5-is that more common or rare than the GU2?
