new shift cable? take the cable loose at the tranny and see if moves easy then. . make sure you chock a tire! also try to lubricate at the shifter and on the tranny. other than that may be something internal.

Check your brake light switch. In order to push the button on the shifter, you have to have your foot on the brake. If that switch is bad, you won't be able to push the button, and you probably also won't have brake lights.

it will work fine when the interior of the car is warm, but not a moment before. if i get it to move the cable on the shifter that goes under the dash doesnt seem right, i cant see where it goes though.

That's strange...maybe it's the shift handle itself? Hanging up or or something? Something you could try is removing the handle and see if it makes a difference.

you pry have water in the cable, our fourwheeler does this from time to time but with the throttle cable, it would not move till it was warmed up ....
