Well the title says it all. My friend comes into work today with his new Dodge SRT10 Ram. He claims 500hp and around 525tq,(haven't looked it up yet), but says it weighs in at about 7k. I figure why not see how I stack up against this beast so after work we take them out on 41A. The first race was from a roll from about 20 because we couldn't find a light and he immediately jumps out about 2 cars and stayed there, he might have gained another half before I let off. The second was from a dig and we both spun but he stayed in front by about a half a car, I was able to pull up to his door but that's about as far as I got. I can't say that I really expected to win but I wanted to see how I'd do against this truck. My current mods are lid,SSRA, MAC ORY, and Hooker cat-back.

Interesting....I've beaten 2 of the new SRT10s now. Wasn't close either. Does he have anything done to the truck??

The only time a ran one of those trucks it was a quad-cab... and I walked him no problem. This was before the cam too.

wow I would have thought you were going to rape him. After I read the story I thought your ride was bone stock and needed a tune up lol. Got one of those V6 Z28's? :ughlaugh:

Just kidding...ask him if anything is done to the truck, because this race sounds weird...

His truck is stock, I just need a driver mod jk. I do need a tune, but after that and SFC's I'll be done with mods till after my next deployment. If after the tune I can launch right I should be able to take him, but when we raced from a dig we both spun and then pretty much hooked at the same time. He didn't walk away from me but he kept his nose up front by about half a car and I only gained a little before we shut it down due to upcoming traffic. I'm not making no where near the power as most of you guys here so I'm a little satisfied with how it did for the day.

I was door to door with a Quad Cab SRT-10 with my 240SX with only 250whp (BPU power). Was the guy modded at all? I think with a full bolt ons LS1 you should be able to give a stock one a run for it's money. They have an impressive engine, but they weigh too much. In general.... they're a 13s truck in stock form.

full bolt ons with an ls1 and you should definitively walk away from one. . .at least w/ a 6 speed. . .

srt-10 is low-mid 13 sec truck, since when is a mild bolt on ls1 not a low 13 sec car? or high 12?. . . .

For the single cab.The quad cab is a little slower.
Actually there rated at 13.8,but they are a little quicker than that.

alright I'll run him again tomorrow on a better strip. hell if I can get away with it I'll run him on the flight line, none of our acft are back from port yet so it's empty for the week. I'll let you all know what happens, I think if I launched better instead of fish tailing it I would of kept my nose out front. No more excuses other than better driver mod. With a tune I know I'll be in better shape against these mopar dudes, but I don't expect to be kill'n them left and right. I also have a friendly race coming up against my other buddies 06' Daytona Charger. This one I'm not really worried about and plan to race him at the local track.

Yeah it's stock, if I do stall it, it'll be be 2000-2200. I don't really want it much higher than that, also eventually I'll swap the gears out for 3.42's but that probably won't happen any time soon. I've got a lot of things to take care of around the house right now. I asked my buddy if he wanted to run again but he said maybe later, every one was giving him shit for spinning so I humbled myself and told them all that we both spun pretty bad. I guess he didn't notice.

yea the old stock trans with 2.73 gears is the main reason you lost, stall and gears you will be driving a whole new beast

Uh a 2000 or 2200 stall isnt even worth it. The stock stall is 1800.

Hum my research says 1400..... I'm going with a 2400 and 3:73 gears with a tune. My buddy ran 12.83 with that set up and I would be happy with that... Get gears at least about 4 to $500 installed. Look at me starting to sound like I know what I'm talking about. I guess if you can't make it fake it :-)

you actually did pretty damn good considering your mods, no LT's, no Tune for LT's, No Stall, No Gears and went up against a 500hp truck granted heavy but fast. As stated above with just gears and stall you will own him and LT's with a tune and its gonna be or should be fairly easy win. I would be shocked with my car and the mods i have just to keep up with one they arent slow what so ever.

Was it the 4 door one or the 2 door ? 4 door is Automatic and Slower & heavier. And the 2 door is 6 speed manual pretty quick.

His is an extended cab, I'll run him again after I get a tune, unless he calls me out sooner, then I'll do it for gp.

I was called out by this random guy at the gas station one night who was in a single cab SRT-10. He asked if I wanna race and I laughed. He said "What you laughing at? This is an SRT-10. I have 10 cylinders to your 8." Of course I wasn't going to let this clown talk smack. So we pulled out on the 4 lane highway & he got more than he bargained for. Pulled an easy 2-3 cars on him. I wasn't stock, but no significant mods either. I believe you can get him if your car is running like it should.

This post is making me a little nervous. I've gotta race with a srt-10 this spring (single cab and 6 speed). His brother says hes gonna beat me by 3 cars, I told him I'm gonna be out in front by 1.5. I hope the Z is ruunin good that day.

Wish me luck and I'll post the results when it happens.

With your mods, you definitely shouldn't have a problem. Is he stock or do you know? I was somewhat intimidated, but its only a race. What have you got to lose? Just drive the piss outta your Z! :burnout:

When mine was stock I ran a 2 door m6, I had A4 3.23. We ran on the interstate up to 140 through light traffic, but neither one was pulling. But like they said with 3.73 (i have them) your car will be quicker, you'll feel it.

Dont even waste your time running a stall that small, you will just wish you went with a 3k or bigger later.

Ive got a 3k stall and 3:70 gears, most of the time when I'm racing, or playing around I wish I would have listened to other people and went with a bigger stall...

Go with atleast a 3k stall. its still completely streetable at that point. If your going to do it, do it right the 1st time.

what tires are you running? If there decent a good launch shouldnt be too hard, I mean its an a4.. Through a stall in there, ls6 intake, and some gears (at least one of the three) along with a good set of rubber and you should take him to the cleaners.

Hes stock, and hopefully I'll have 3.42's in it before we race.

I figure with the stall and drag radials I will out launch him and he will never catch up.

I don't know, you might want to drive/ride in a car with a bigger stall first...I have a 3000 stall and if I could trade someone for a 2500 I would definitely do it. Stalls get really annoying on a DD, maybe with a V8 it's different, but I kinda doubt it, I used to have one lol.

+1 on this

I have a 3200 stall and it makes the car feel very sluggish during normal driving, but the shop that installed it said as my power increases the stall will feel and perform much better. I hope with a gear swap to 3.42's it will help too.

I would recommend driving a car with a higher stall so you know what your getting into.

but I will say at a 25-35mph punch it launches like a rocket.
