Decided to change the oil in my 10 bolt. All went well until I tried to scrape off the gasket. It has decided to join itself to the rear end housing. Scraped and scraped still most of it wont come off. Any tips from anyone??

What are you using to scrape it off? Get what you can then clean off the rest with something like scotchbrite pads and a solvent.

Yea a scotch brite and a whiz wheel are nice, razor blade works too, just takes a bit more time

Wire wheel on an angle grinder. Just remember to keep trash out of the diff.

razor blade should get it off. if you cant with that, you can use the scotch brite pads on an air grinder. and definitly clean out the housing when you get done.

How about a small wood planer? I used it on the backdoor when I installed it. Will Valvoline 80w 90w Durablend be ok?

Check your owners manual. Mine says 75w90 synthetic, with an additive for limited slip. I would not use blend.

The razor blades did it !! Thanks guys. With the new oil the rear seems quieter. The old oil was full of crap and the magnet was a mess. The previous owner never changed it. By the way about how long does a stock clutch last. I just had mine replaced because the slave went bad. It was only half worn. The beast has 87000 miles.
