I am debating what would be a better move. I want to have an auto tranny that will hold up to regular track drag racing. should I have my stock tranny rebuilt or swap in a 700-r4? I have a 2002 Camaro z28. I will be adding Nitrous and a big cam and maybe heads later on.

There is no advantage to swapping to a 700r4. They are the same trans except for the hydraulic control verse the PCM doing it, The 700r4 is not a stronger unit in any way,
However a well built 60E can handle considerable abuse.

I have noticed that the prices for a new 4l60e are a bit higher that for a new 700r4. what Im saying is balancing cost and performance, would it be a better idea to just rebuild my 4l60E?

If you live in Largo I can hook you up locally. I live in Pasco and have found a bunch of people locally in Pinellas county and others that can do a preformance rebuild on the 4L60E. I just spent a couple of days with a guy in clearwater figureing out a problem with my 97 4l6OE replacement. And there is a company in Tarpon Springs, as well as Spring Hill.

dont go 700R4..they are not the best auto tranny to swap in by no means..id go with a 60E or 80E
