Dewalt 18v 1/2" Impact

Was looking at one at homedepot was curious if anyone had any experiance with the impact.
Does it hold its charge a while?
Have decent power?
It claims around 300 ft pounds but im kinda iffy on a battery powered impact.
Any pros and cons?

What are you planning on using it for mainly? Try to see when the rep is doing a clinic and see if you can test it.

qwkgto brought his over when we did my brothers headers on his goat. That's a bad ass impact. It's on my "to get" list now.

I really like mine. it holds a charge good if you have a good battery(not to old) and plenty of power to break lug nuts. There are two different ones out. I have the smaller and my brother has the bigger one. Both 18v and 1/2". Millwakee(spelling????) also has a 28 v and it is bad. But a little big.

Do alot of work around the house, Ie Brakes, exhaust work, suspension, so i need it to be able to break the lug nuts loose, also alot of exhaust work lately and an impact would make things so much easier.

Mine works good, it will pull a 110 ft-lb lug nut off, more than my air impact will do at 110psi.

i really like mine, bought it for bolting augers together, between the 2 bat packs, it goes all day

Had one for several years.

Only complaint is the little ball in the snout sticks sometimes locking the socket on.

Mine claimed 200-something ft/lbs of torque. That claim is sorta like EPA gas mileage estimates. Probably happened to someone, but your results may vary.

The gun has worked flawlessly ... 18V XRP batteries last a year, maybe two are $60 each. I also have a 3/8" version.

I would buy again if needed.

I have no idea what the cost is on the Dewalt, but I purchased Snap On CT4850HO and really like it. Rated at 620 breakaway torque and 400 torque output. Ive only had it for 3 months but so far so good. I only assume it cost more because it is Snap On, but I think I paid like $450. for it. Not sure if that is comparable or not? Ive had 18v cordless drills that are Dewalts and ALWAYS had good luck with them too!

I love my DeWalt. I mainly use it for lug nuts and changing out gears on my race car every night. I previously had a Milwaukee impact, but this Dewalt had clearly way more power. 240ft/lbs vs 300 I believe. I can use my Dewalt to break loose bolts I normally can't break lose with a breaker bar. I would definatly recommend it.

That little impact gun is one of the most badass battery tools that i've ever used. Buy it and you will not be disappointed.

Mine is a snap on had last one for 9 years damn thing is the bomb,used it on everything from heads and cam to taking wheels and tires off,Jegs sells a nice one for $100 and so does Minards,<comes with two batterys mine last for a long time but always nice to have a second just in case,one of the best tools a guy can have,get one youll never regret it.
