So I'm a server, and we got a new kid at work, hes an arrogant little bastard, been there a week and everyone hates him. Turns out he dries a solstice, i heard him bragging about 4-bangers being awesome the other day. he was parked by me leaving work tonight, thats how i found out it was his.

I got sideways pulling out beside him, so i figure hell eventually want to play. All i know is its a solstice, i dont know a model or year, i know the GXP is pretty quick, but other than that, what do you guys think

The 3.8 is legendary, and actually pretty bulletproof. I've seen stock bottom ends hold close to 600WHP no problem on a 3800 Series II.

Trouble is, N/A they are dog slow. They need boost to really make power, which is why they are so popular and well revered in the form of the Grand Nationals and Grand Prix GTP's.

And yes, any Solstice, N/A or turbo, will beat up on a 3800 Camaro. If the Solstice was an N/A and automatic, it might be a closer race at least. The 2.0 LNF turbo is a really impressive motor, hits peak torque of 260ft/lbs at 2,000RPM, which is impressive for a 4, and it still gets very good fuel economy.

well you will find out for us. But i am 100% if he is running the turbo version, you will not beat him, even if he eases it in. That car is light i am sure putting around 240 to the wheel, my old buddies stock ss/sc cobalt put down 236 fwhp. I wouldn't doubt that the solstice is putting down a little more, and it is a light car.

Yeah, your performance car would take a grocery getter with the same engine as a Buick. Hondas suck balls, the only camaros they can take are the STOCK v6's. I had a nitrous 3.8 spraying a 75 shot on a stock motor with stock exhaust and stock tune running a 13.8 down the 1/4 mile. Swapped rearends, put headers on and tuned it and then had a wreck before I could get my 12. Guarantee you won't find a bolt-on Honda, even with a power adder, that can run 12's and still be that streetable.

Jap cars FTL. The new GTR is a POS that's too expensive.

first of all the 3.8l is a buick motor and i have one in my bonneville and its bulletproof my buddy has a regal with the 3.8 supercharged with 3in all the way back with a tuner and headers and he almost keeps up with my ls1

Dont the have dual exhuast coming out the back if its the GXP if so it should be easy to tell even from distance. I think the regular Solstice has a single out on the drivers side and the GXP has it aslo coming out the passenger side.

I drive my mom's redline saturn sky (turbo) similiar to the gxp... and they aren't that slow. It wouldn't be competition for a v8, but im not sure how a 6 would handle.

I was told the car runs in the upper 14's, whereas the 3.8 camaro is in the mid to low 14's. his 0-60 is about 2 seconds faster, but it seems that they lose it somewhere. i dont know, i highly doubt any kind of serious race will ever happen. Tyler doesnt have a location that i know of

Now since you racing the non-turbo version (I thought you were up against the GXP), then it might be a good race. The non-turbo ones can run low 15s if driven well. If your Camaro can run around that.... it should be a drivers race.

It shouldn't be called a Camaro or Firebird if it has a 3.8L V6 in it? ...and why is that? If the past hasn't taught us anything from previous F-Body V6 engines then maybe hearing that the 3.8L V6 is capable of going down a track with times between 6 - 8 seconds would. But, yeah, thats nothing right? Now mind you, if you want a powerful everyday car then yes, by all means buy the LS1's since in the V6 your fuel economy would be dreadful, but for a strictly track car, that 3.8L isn't too bad of an option in my opinion, just depends on your cash flow. But it also depends on whether the person cares to go fast or not.

Stock for stock I think it would be close if the Solstice isn't turbo, though I've never seen a race between the two.

Gas mileage isnt even that great, i hang out at about 21. when i use to drive a lot of highway i got 23 or 24. even my 3.8 Buick only got 24, dunno. my main thing is insurance.

plus, like i said before, my grandad bought the Camaro and offered to trade me for the Buick, same motor, sexier car. eh, why not

The 3.8 Camaro/Firebird is a respectable car. 200 horsepower, and as fast as the '85 tuned-port V8 (305) Trans Am was in the 1/4 mile.

Got any mods? There's got to be ton of them out there for that motor, its one of GM's most common. I know the Montes have'm.
